College Fall Ball

    Milligan College, TN (September 12, 2003) - Milligan College softball opened their 2003 fall season Friday afternoon in impressive fashion over Roane State. The doubleheader resulted in 6-1 and 9-0 victories for the Lady Buffs.

    In the first game, shortstop Danielle Gilley and first baseman Brooke Davis led the team with two hits apiece. Brandy Waddle pitched 7 strong innings to earn the win.

    In the second game, leftfielder, Ellen Stoots had a clutch fourth inning two out hit, scoring two Lady Buffalos. Shelby Banion had a key double and pitched 4 innings of scoreless softball to earn the victory. Banion and freshman Rabekah Hawley held Roane State to a shutout from the mound.

    Milligan will play again in the 2003 Milligan Fall Classic September 19-20 at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City

    My DD (Amanda Verner) started in CF, was 0 for 2,walk,2Runs scored in game 1. Game 2, 1 for 1, 2 walk, 1Run scored

    Question? Is it ok post College Softball in Preps? If not Slap me and call me a dirty name, then show me where.:D

    hanger4.......welcome back! And yes please post all college softball under preps till or if,we seperate. Do keep us posted on Mililgan and any other teams participating in your area.

    Above is the Milligan Fall Classic.
    Some local colleges, Mars Hill, Montreat and Brevard.
    Pools C & D appear to be HS's and some travel clubs.
    Mars Hill, Montreat and Brevard have a number of local WNC girls (sorry) young ladies playing for them plus my DD at Milligan.
    Tournament dates are Sept. 19/20.
    Will try to post results and how the (young ladies) fared.

    Thanks for posting the schedule and our family will be at Wingate University the same dates, so do keep us updated! Good Luck to all our young ladies playing college softball especially our girls!;)

    change in teams participating

    Just wanted to give an update on the Milligan tournament. ETSU is now replacing Montreat in Pool A. Look for hometown product Miranda Byerly (Enka) playing for ETSU.

    Hey, Enkajet04 thanks for spreading the word about the Milligan Tournament. ETSU plays Friday at 4. Winged Deer Park is a really nice to watch a game. :nopity:

    .............darn dog, their are a bunch of those jets landing here and check that wagon for those names!



    Belmont Abbey lost one and won one this past Sunday and will play in the Wingate University tournament this weekend.(no schedule released yet). DD pitched in both games and both her and the team are rusty with their hitting. Keri Blackwelder, FR out of West Stanly, P/1B played well in her collegiate debut!
