    Pfeiffer Fall Softball Schedule

Pfeiffer will be playing Catawba College Tuesday Sept. 30th 6pm at The Salisbury Community Park on Hurley School Road. Hurley School Road turns off of Hwy 70 about 4 miles West of Salisbury. If you are traveling North on I-85 take Exit 75 (Jake Alexander Blvd) and follow till you come to Hwy 70 West to Statesville. Go west about 3 to 4 miles on Hwy 70 and look for Hurley School Road on your left. A furniture store is located on the corner of Hwy 70 and Hurley School road. If you are traveling east on Hwy 70 from Statesville – Cleveland area look for small sign on right (Salisbury Community Park) at furniture store. From Mooresville take Hwy 801 North until it takes a sharp turn to the left, Keep straight on Sherrill’s Ford Road. Follow Sherrill’s Ford until you see Hurley School Rd. Take a left on Hurley School Rd. and watch for sign to Salisbury Community Park on the right.

Pfeiffer plays Greensboro College Sat. Oct. 4th 11am at the Salvation Army Ballfield in Greensboro. Unless they schedule more games, that is all the fall softball. I will post when games are scheduled.

NC STATE Softball team kicks off its first season of softball October 4 & 5 in the Elon Fall Tournament. The Pack with 14 freshmen and a handful of upperclassmen will get started at 11am on Saturday against Louisburg and 1pm vs Averey (sp). Sunday's schedule was not posted! Nearly half of the State team are from NC, so if you are in the area, go support and see some good college action. Hopefully.... someone will get the scoop(scores, some stats, opinions)and report back to TBR Softball forum................

Thanks to all TBR memebers and ole charlotte.comers who emailed, phoned and used other lobbying methods to NC STATE ATHLETIC DIRECTORS, Robinson and Fowler over the last 6 or 7 years! Its a great for all others who can now say "I want to Play at NC State"............Clemson is next!

    Winthrop Tourney............

Belmont Abbey defeated Lenior-Rhyne 3-2, WP was Amanda Brethel, LP pitcher Sara Cox, South Caldwell product (pitched welllll, desired to Win), Kristen Kimball(Butler) and Brookes Starnes(St Stephens) lead the LR offense while Jenny Van Gundy(FL) Stephaine Spinks(FL) and Emily Arthur(East Rutherford) lead a comeback in the bottom of the 7th for their 8th win in 9 games this fall season.

Gundy and Spinks lead off with back to back singles, a sac. to move runners to second and third with one out and Emily hit a 3-2 pitch to rightcenter for a double scoring each. With the score tied 2-2, winning run on second,Julie Solmon (Clover, SC), dibbles one towards firstbase side. flip from fielder mishandled at first and runner scores from second for the Abbey win.

Alot of Carolina girls playing in this game and looking forward to seeing all, this coming spring 2004!

Game two of the day featured fellow CVAC perininal power Coker
defeated BAC 3-1 with Keri Blackwelder taking the loss on the mound. Leigh Carter, SO (South Point) hit her first collegiate homerun (unofficial) in the loss and had a great weekend overall both offensively and with great play at 2B.

Winthrop and USC-Spartanburg were battling toe to toe when we had to go feast and Watch those Panthers win.

Was especially pleased to see Evan Miller(CC) playing for USC-S, while still playing basketball there too!:applause: To me, the Winthrop/USCS game was the Tournament feature matchup with Abbey/LR, and Withrop/Abbey surprisingly a close second.

Great weekend of softball, Wolfpack/Panther football via radio and super weather, puurrrrrrrfect!

    Burlington Tourney

Just a note that there will be 6 colleges and 6 18U travel teams at the tourney this weekend. NC State, Elon, Peace, Young Harris, Louisburg, Averett are the colleges and NC Dominators, SC Bandits, Va Tom Boys, Carolina WIldcats, NC Challengers, and Lady Blues are the !8U teams. The games are set-up to allow the 18U teams to see the colleges and vice-versa. The Fusion team is putting the tourney on and did a great job organizing. Hope this tourney is successful. Come see some excellent softball! Saw several games in Rock Hill and Tony is right some great softball and lots of Carolina girls showing their stuff. NC softball is on the rise! If we took the best 12 or 13 girls and got them on one team, we could compete anywhere. Should be a great HS season this year and already looking forward to next summer.
