College Score Week Ending March 4

Jonathan Greene and WCU

Johnny Greene(former Watauga High standout) is showing he is the real deal. WCU already has wins over Ga Tech and NC State, two nationally ranked teams. Greene has been a big part of the fast start by the Cats. He hit a first inning bomb at Tech and set the tone for the contest. I do know that his 21 game hitting streak was snapped yesterday against top 25 Pepperdine. He played 3rd and maybe some OF his first year or two, but I noticed he started at catcher against Tech.(his main position at Watauga for four years on varsity) If you ever get the chance to see him play, get there early and watch his BP exhibition, it's impressive. He is playing himself into a possible early draft pick if he continues at his current pace. I cannot believe I'm getting ready to say this(since I'm a ASU fan) but "good luck the rest of the year to Johnny" and yes "the rest of the Cats team".

Saturday 3/3:

Game 1: University of Dayton 2 - ASU 20
Game 2: University of Dayton 12 - ASU 13

David Towarnicky went 4-6, hit his 1st college HR, and had 7 RBI's in game 1.
Jason Rook hit his 2nd grand slam of the year in game 2.

Sun 3/4:

University of Dayton 3 - ASU 5

David Rubinstein went 3-4 with 3 RBI's.
Jason Rook pitched 7 innings for the win.

Charlotte won 8-3 to sweep James Madison today. Record is now 10-3.

Great Weekend for Davidson

The Cats won their series over Furman yesterday 6-4 on a walkoff homer by Alden Crissey. It was the first SOCON series win since at least 2005. I don't know how good this team is but they seem to find a way to win. Yesterday made at least five wins they have pulled out in the late innings. Now 8-1, 2-1.
