Cal State Fullerton - solid, very solid. Seems that CSF is always around this time of year. The Titans.

Texas - getting it done but kind of shaky at times. only team I saw that did not do the dogpile after superregional victory. could that be a sign of things to come? 33rd appearance in CWS.

UNC - probably not Fox's best of the past four which is a good reason they may finally win it. That was difficult to say coming from a ABC'er.

Arkansas - scrappy and smart. Look for lots of small ball from this SEC team.

Va. - I like this team. O'Connor just looks like he puts an outstanding product on the field. They don't beat themselves and hitting is timely. First time ever in CWS, but this team has a maturity level and took the toughest path to the CWS.

Ariz. State - very very good. Pitching outstanding. This team is loaded.

LSU - Sometimes unpredictable , but coming out of the SEC .......very strong.

So. Miss. - This year's Cinderella . fun to watch but don't expect another Fresno State this year.
Check out their coach Corky Palmer # 44 on his final hoorah (retiring at end of CWS). SM's 1st time ever in a super-regional this season, then wins it in Gainesville , and first time to CWS.

UNC's first game is vs. Ariz State. WOW.

    predictions for CWS?

    Longhorns

These are all solid teams, but my head and heart have to go with Coach Augie Garrido and the Texas Longhorns. Coach brings that something extra to the CWS...

Personally, I really just enjoy the ride and hope that everybody plays well in all categories. It's great when college baseball starts getting this much attention on a national level. So I'm rooting for everybody, but silently hoping that the Longhorns can pull out another National Title!

On the other hand, Augie likes to say that, "Baseball is a game of the unexpected." Who knows what will happen. Good luck to everybody and the boys playing from North Carolina High Schools. You gotta love Hanover & Michael from ND.

great story in that Brian O'Connor played in the CWS in early 90's w/ Creighton, a hometown team to Omaha.

Coach O'Connor was also the model for the player positioned at the top and center of the statue, "Victory," which sits immediately in front of Rosenblatt Stadium. He was a standout player at Creighton when the statue was commissioned; so, he was an obvious and convenient choice for the role. I'd think it'd be pretty exciting and meaningful for his players to stand in front of it, knowing that.
