I'm going to kick my dog and go cry by myself for the 3rd consecutive year.

Congratulations to the Tar Heels on another impressive year. It will be interesting to see how the younger guys mature and the new recuits futinto the lineup next year.

In my opinion, you have all 3 OF spots open (assuming that Fedroff might leave). 3rd base and SS open for competition and it will be interesting to see what happens in the catcher's position. Jeff May is a man.....and not sure what Fed Ex is going to do.

 

I don't know of too many teams who have their fastest player at first base, so maybe Ackley will get back to his natural position. I can't even remember the last true 1b for the Tarheels, but maybe Holt can be the one. Cavasini will also be back in the OF barring another disaster. Seager is the only lock to return in the infield. This was like watching a lame duck president finish out his term.

neither team had won 40 games when the regionals started. these 2 teams had the lowest winning % of the 8 CWS teams.

both teams have peaked at the correct time.

I think most will favor Ga., but how can you count out the Fresno team after what they've just done? They seem sort of like the Oreg State teams of 06 and 07.

And I believe I am correct(?) that Ga. in 2007 was something like 25-35, and now playing for the title a year later.

It would be nice to see Cavvi back roaming CF and being a natural lead off hitter. Holt played 3rd base all through HS. You can play FedEx at 1st/relief pitcher/closer and May at catcher.

My sentiments exactly.

 

Oregon State had some quality arms.....something that Fresno State lacks. I just can't see the bats of Georgia being silent like Carolina's when players are in scoring position.

 

FedEx will be catching for the Greenville Drive next year.
He's the perfect fit to succeed Jason Varitek.
He's gone, and Fedroff has all kinds of leverage as a .400 hitting soph.
He's gonna have to really love UNC to stick around.

 

You don't think he could improve on his 7th round selection. That's not much money

 

I honestly believe that intangibles play a bigger role in winning the CWS than people realize. Fresno State=Rocky Balboa.
