Since he is a soph, he has more leverage than a jr, so I think he can get much more than round money. The question is whether he can improve on this year's stats if he sticks around next year and I say, no.

    Morning Thoughts

Heels picked a bad time to put the bats on ice. Besides Ackley and Fedrof, the rest were struggling.
Pitching was plenty good enough. I am surprised, however, that with the talent UNC has, they had to use Alex White three days in a row. I know he is a stud, but that defied all logic. And he was gassed.
Still can't believe the home plate umpire. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would be checking to see where he graduated from.

Georgia played one of the toughest schedules in the country and that is why winning 40 was more difficult. Played Oreg St, FSU, Arizona out of conference then throw in the SEC schedule on top of that. Having watched this team all year I can tell you the Dawgs have somthing extremely special going on with this group. Talented they are but the intangibles have been the difference. If you heard the Fresno coach after the game last night talking about his team all I could think of was that he was talking about the Dawgs as well. Maybe thats why these teams are in the finals.

    GO DAWGS!!!!

Playing a tough schedule is great, but its all about peaking at the right time of year. Look at Miami, they were the best team in college baseball for most of the year, but they fell flat in Omaha. It happens.

Congrats to the 2 teams remaining, those 2 are clearly playing the best ball right now. Gotta feeling Fresno is running out of gas though, so I'll take Georgia in 2.

    Who can win it?

My first thought would be Fresno St. That Rocky Balboa thing some recently mentioned kind of rings a bell.

My question is why didn't these other good teams beat Fresno St?

Championship series against GA. Uhmmm...they don't look like they have run out of gas.

I think they might be able to do it.

    Ga.

Ga. pitchers well-rested after sweeping thru the CWS bracket. Their pitchers are not great, but seem to gut it out to get the job done.

Ga. hitters are really outstanding, so far.

I think Ga. will win it all.

    FS underdogs / wonderdogs

how about Fresno's pitching format tonight? all out by committee. wow. Through 7 innings, they have used 4 or 5? well-rested pitchers all with ERA's over 6.00!! it's like they're all on absolute pitch counts in the championship round of the CWS!

score is 6-3 Fresno. anything can happen. Fresno has 3 HR's.

Fresno: makeshift pitching, OUTSTANDING defense, timely hitting, and on a roll.

top of 8th; Ga. making another pitching change.

for good measure, FS is pinch-hitting for a guy (the 9th hitting DH no less) that has 2 HR's in the CWS, including one tonight!!

What a great game! Great game by both teams and Beckham hit a bomb in the clutch situation.

    Bulldogs win game 1

That is, the Georgia "Dawgs'". Great comeback.

FS handed a 6-3 lead to their outstanding closer Burke in the 8th after the makeshift pitching corps held the great hitters from Ga. to 3 runs but he could not save it, surrendering 4 runs including the 2-run blast by Beckham. Then the Ga. fireballer Fields closed it out 3 up 3 down in the 9th.

    Final: Ga. 7 FS 6

FS's unorthodox pitching strategy almost worked out.................

OK, Dawgswood, I know we're gonna hear from ya!!
