The hitters were trying to disrupt his rhythm. But what had Fox and the team upset was a carry over from the previous game. The umpire was forcing the UNC batters to stay in the batters box while the OSU pitchers would try to freeze the hitters when runners were on base. Fox felt to play those type games at this level was unneeded, unnecessary and was not playing baseball "the right way". Whether it was right or wrong, Fox tried to get the HP umpire to focus on what OSU was doing...to some degree of success. But it backfired when the umpire allowed the hitters to step out or not step into the box.....causing Carrignan to get a little upset.

My hat goes off to OSU. They are a great team with great leadership. They were certainly a better team in this series.....and their ss was phenomenal as a player and as a teammate.

Carigan was trying to motivate his team. Better to do it with the arm than the mouth.

    yes

Yes, agree that Carigan's post-game comments were overboard. Calling OSU's brand of offensive baseball "cowardly", when you've just been spanked twice?

congrats to OSU. i was hoping our Carolina boys could gain some redemption from what happened last season but they just were'nt good enough again. i've enjoyed watching them anyways. these players and coach Fox have injected a sense of pride into the Tar Heel baseball program and hopefully it will result in recruits....and more chances on the national scene. damn fine effort.

good job men, we're still proud of you!!!!

As we've known for quite sometime now....UNC proved again....

They are better at handling "Cocks" and not Beavers.

For the last 2 years, nobody could "Dam the Beavers"; the fact is UNC is the only team that could position themselves to try.

ABC Fan. The fact is the Beavers played the game!! The commentators had it right. Carolina has a good team but it was the fundamentals that got them. You have to move the runners to score the runs. Carolina just meet a team that worked a little harder than they did on the fundamentals. It takes that. You can come back from behind only so many times. Maybe next year. They did show everyone the talent that is in the State of Carolina. :taz:

    CWS in general

I have followed the CWS for about 20 yr's, but never attended.

For anyone that's been there, what's it like? Not the games, but say if you've been there 7-10 days , what is left to do when you're not at the park?

Good question. I've never been but would love to go. What is there to do when you're not at the games?
