Has anyone heard if composite bats will be outlawed next year in high school? Just wondering if i should invest in one this year. They are kinda pricey just to get one years use out of it. Just wanting some opinions.

Do a search and you will find a couple of recent threads dedicated to this. But the long and short of it was, there are no plans to place a moritorium or ban on composite bans at this time or at a time anyone can forsee.

I would imagine, that if and when college does actually ban them (currently it is a one year moritorium, not a "ban"), HS may follow suit.

As an aside, local school districts (or leagues) may do something, but who knows. They have bigger fish to fry.

Do your research first then check ebay you can normally save a fair amount on say 2009 model that was hot. Honesty also you will probably only get one year out of it if you play through the summer and fall. Good Luck

My husband laughed at me yesterday when I breathed a sigh of relief that I will no longer have to buy another bat for my son. He said "you don't think you're gonna have to buy another bat this year????" I really don't think I will have to. He has a brand new bat. I guess we'll see!

    new NCHSAA Rule

Rule 1-3-2 for 2012 states that NC is moving from BESR to BBCOR standards for bats. Many of the composite bats do not meet this standard even new before they are broke in and "get hot". My guess is that the manufactures will tone down the composites to meet the BBCOR standards so they will not loose market share. They will not tell us what they had to do to meet the new BBCOR standard.

    See new rule at nchsaa.org.
