It is really great to see coaches, players and the community working together for such a great cause ! These type of events dwarf any high or low you can get from a "W" or an "L" . The memories that these kind of nights make will stay with the young men for the rest of their lives. Hats off to JD Vidal and his staff for pulling this together........great job !

    Event

There was a lot of thought and effort to put in to this event. There is also an emotional influence behind the scenes. A college teammate of Coach Vidal's had a 2 year old daughter who recently passed away from cancer. It was a very sad time in the life of that family and this event shows the support and love that baseball creates for its own. This just goes to show that baseball reaches further than the accolades and the college scholarship. Baseball is about a bond that people create over time through the sport and the everlasting love that one has for his "brother". The grandmother of Claire Ratliff spoke to the team tonight before the game and without hearing what was said, I could imagine that these boys were humbled and appreciative of the opportunities they have been given. Coach Vidal and the Cox Mill HS Staff/Students, I salute you for a wonderful and heartfelt event.

This was an outstanding event and the emotion was felt all over the complex on Friday night. I talked with a few of the young men from Cox Mill afterwards and you could tell they will not soon forget this evening........... Really nice job Coach V ! ..... by the way, Cox Mill 6 Concord 4 in a well played game by both teams that included a 30 minute rain delay............. but the game was really secondary on this special night......

Outstanding! I'm thrilled to hear that the "event" had such a great turnout and the players understood the meaning of the game. What a great story to read. Thanks for sharing all of the information.
