    Area III Round Three Playoff..

The biggest legion game of the year in Kannapolis (so far) and it doesn't even make the front page of the sports in the (suspose to be local newspaper). Kannapolis post 501 had a fantastic come from behind rally in the bottom of the ninth and you will find the article on the 2nd page without a box score. As usual YOU dropped the ball AGAIN.. NO wonder you guys are losing readership.Thank god for the Salisbury Post!!!!!!!

Austin, you are from Northwest Cabarrus, but sadly we in Kannapolis have seen this over and over with the Tribune. The Tribune really only covers certain areas well, mostly around the JMRobinson/ Central Cabarrus area. Many Kannapolis folks take The Salisbury Post for this very reason if you love following local sports in the northern part of the county. The only time Kannapolis gets any real ink is during HS football season, and actually the Salisbury paper probably does better there too. Its simply not a priority with the Tribune to cover local sports, they are more interested in the Panthers or whatever comes across the AP. Kannapolis HS has played numerous big HS baseball games in the past several years with East Rowan or whoever and most of the time, theres nothing AT ALL in the local paper the next morning. Tribune folks say that they want coaches to call these stories in, but Tribune folks don't understand they are losing subscribers to another newspaper because "this other" newspaper gets out and covers the games, and covers the games well too I might add.

    the Charlotte Robserver

You should see the grrrrrrrrrrrrreat coverage the Charlotte Robserver gives your teams! It's on par with coverage of local teams.

NOT. no state games, no legion, no conference updates (excepting the greenies @ MP or D Bard or chris leak) NADA. It's all about the money and there must not be any dough in covering preps... The Shelby Star and Monroe paper give about as good a coverage as anyone, but its not online.

The Tribune has no problems covering Central Cabarrus and Robinson sports , especially Centrals softball program .

In this particular situation I have to defend the Independent Tribune. You won't see me do this very often.

This game was delayed about an hour and 40 minutes for lightning in the area.I was standing beside the Independent Tribune guy covering the game when the game ended at about 11:15 PM.He said they stop the presses at 11:45 PM and would have to hurry to even get the game in the paper.

In this particular case I think they did the best they could. He told me this was the best legion game he had seen in a number of years. The reporter told me if the game went extra innings it would not even make the paper. He said they will not hold the presses which both of us said was ashame.

I really think if the game had not been delayed so long it would have made the front page of the sports with even a box score.

KtownYank, since "YOU" said it, it must be true, and I will buy it,,, THIS TIME!!! However, I still stand by my above comments until the Independent Tribune shows that they are more committed to covering local youth who are playing these sports. Things like local ballgames "IS" news and is important to a lot of people around the county. Hopefully, someone at the Tribune office is recognizing this. Subscribers must pay for the papers; therefore, it would be nice to see staff at the paper show more interest in the subscribers with more coverage without coaches having to "call" all the stories in. I'm hoping.....

Wufman...I agree with you 100%.They really need to cover our local sports. This is the main reason I subscribe to the Salisbury Post instead of our local newspaper.Hopefully the Kannapolis-South Rowan series will get the coverage it deserves.

It's the 1st time ever that South Rowan and Kannapolis are still playing ball while Rowan County is sitting at home.I'm looking for huge attendance during this series. Both teams deserve it along with some major coverage from the Independent Tribune.
