    Falcon pitchers named All-Conference
    Thursday, 16 April 2009
    High Point, NC – Falcon starter Nick Fogleman and relief pitcher Andy Oliver were selected for this year’s Conference Carolinas baseball All-Conference first team. Fogleman was also selected at the league’s Pitcher of the Year. The Falcons finished the regular season in fifth place with a record of 25-16-1 overall and 9-7 in the league. Pfeiffer plays its first game of the Conference Carolinas tournament on Thursday evening.

    Nick Fogleman, a junior from Waxhaw, NC, pitched 14 games for the Falcons and started in 10. Fogleman pitched 77.2 innings giving up 29 runs with 16 being earned to mark an ERA of 1.85. He gave up 51 hits, walked 25 batters, and struck out 76. Fogleman finished regular season play with a record of 9-1. He also earned a .183 batting average.

    Andy Oliver, a junior from Cornelius, NC, pitched in 16 games for the Falcons. He pitched a total of 21 innings giving up 5 runs, three of which were earned for an ERA of 1.29. Oliver gave up 16 hits, walked nine, and struck out 39. Oliver was 1-1 on the season with four saves. At the plate, he marked a .216 batting average.

    The Conference Carolinas All-Conference baseball teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Players of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Second Team
