LClefty04 my kid plays second base for Piedmont. Might have to play short some as well. Was on varsity last year but played little with nine seniors on the team. When he does play short it will be because Rob Lyerly (Campbell signee) will be pitching. Last year they had three pitchers. Timmy, Rob, and Parker who graduated. My kid will likely be the third pitcher, as well as a kid named Dustin Belk. These guys that are moving up from JV might be more athletic than the seniors that are gone from last year. The JV's only lost two games so this years varsity will still be solid. With Robinson and Weddington gone and Porter Ridge and A.L.Brown taking their place Piedmont should still have a good shot at the SPC crown.

Thanks Blademan, I probably know your son. I played there two years ago. Yea I remember Lyerly stepping up last year into the pitching rotation and contributing in a big way. They biggest position they have to fill is catcher. Dallas Tarelton was a horse behind the plate and one of the most-underrated players in the Charlotte area.

I think Piedmont has a good chance to take the conference title behind the arms of Timmy and Lyerly. They have some holes to fill but they will fill the gaps and be at the top when the season ends.

As far as the catching Jordan Edwards is a senior this year and you know how Flow is about playing his seniors. I think Montana Brigman will give him a run for his money though. You must be Morgan. You know we don't grow lefty's in this area, they have to transfer! LOL! I certainly remember a lefty when I see one. Last one I coached was Matt Foard, and he's doing well at UNCC now. Jared told me he had seen you a couple of times. They are in the winter workouts now, maybe you'll drop in.

Oh one more thing. My showcase team played at Lenoir-Rhyne this fall. I talked to Coach Pait and he said Dallas had a good chance of starting this spring. Said he was still getting use to the long days. Danny Herman was doing great too. Danny actually umped the games we played. We played a double header on a Sunday and Danny told me he had gone 3 for 4 Sat. with a double off the center field wall. I think Pait is pleased with him too.

I forgot about Jordan Edwards, he will be fine as long as he can handle Timmy's fastball. I think your right about Montana, he could most certainly come in and take a seniors spot. I think it will be a solid team with a lot of leadership.

I heard about Dal doing really good at LR. Dal is a heads up catcher and has a underrated arm. The year I played, he gunned Grag MiClat 4 out of 5 times, which for anybody who knows how Greg is on the bases, is quite an achievement. But I hope both of them see a lot of time on the varsity and i'm looking forward to see how they do.

I would love to come by but i'm heading back tomorrow morning. When your gone for a while and when you come home, everybody has to see you. But more importantly, you have to keep working out which takes a lot of free time you have. Tell everybody I said "Hey" for me and tell them I wish them best of luck.

I'll do it. Best of luck to you this spring. Jarhead told me the last time he saw you throw you had to be in the 90 range. Hope to see you at some games this year.

I think he wound up rehabbing all fall. I know when we played the Megastars the last couple of times he wasn't there. I know the MRI was negative. They started Pitcher/Catcher winter workouts last week. My kid was there and said Timmy seemed fine but he didn't talk to him about it. But right now they are only throwing 50%. Hopefully he'll be 100% when the season starts.

What happened to Timmys arm? I remember him having some arm troubles but I wasn't sure what they were. I'm glad to hear the MRI's were negative. But yea, Coach Flow will have them throwing right at 100% percent when the season starts.

    blademan,

That sounds great, I had heard he just needed some rest. Knowing the competitior Timmy is I am sure he will be a 100% and ready to go when the season starts.

Good luck to your son and Peidmont this season.:ylsuper:
