Conference Standings

    The season is winding down and its time to start posting those conference standings so the rest of us can figure out who we might play in the state playoffs.


    I'll start out with the Big South 3A/4A

    4A

    #1 seed will be Crest
    #2 seed will be East Gaston

    3A
    #1 seed will be North Gaston
    #2 seed will probably be South Point
    #3 seed will probably be Hunter Huss

    #2/#3 seeds will be determined in last three games plus conference tournament, too close to call right now.

    In the MECA 7, North Meck is almost certain to finish first. 2nd, 3rd, 4th is a horse race between JM Robinson, Central Cabarrus and Hopewell. There is a possibility that there might end up being a three way tie for 2nd in this conference. Not sure what tie breaking rules are if that occurs.

    Standings
    1. North Meck
    2 tie Central Cabarrus
    2 tie Hopewell
    2 tie JM Robinson
    5. Mallard Creek

    Final results will be known at end of next week. MECA 7 does not play an end of season conference tournament.

    Northwestern Conference

    Looking for feedback on how Northwestern Conference will stack up? I would presume that Alexander Central will be #1, but how do the rest of the teams fall into place? Are all teams in this conference 4A?

    SW4A Standings to Date

    SW4A does have an end of season conference tournament. Butler is guaranteed the #1 seed from the conference in the state playoffs for winning the regular season. Whoever wins the tournament (other than Butler) would get the #2 seed for the state playoffs. Remaining conference games could affect that current standings.

    As of today:
    1. Butler 1 Conf loss. Remaining conf games vs Weddington and Indy
    T2. Providence 3 Conf losses. Remaining: Myers Park and East Meck
    T2. Weddington 3 Conf losses. Remaining: Ardrey Kell and Butler
    4 Ardrey Kell 4 Conf losses. Remaining: South Meck and Weddington

    5. South Meck??
    6. Myers Park or East Meck
    7. Myers Park or East Meck
    8. Independence

    All team in the Northwestern Conf. are 4A teams and the standing as of today are

    ALEX. CENTRAL CONF. 9-0 / 19-1
    FREEDOM 7-3 / 13-5
    SOUTH CALDWELL 5-4 / 9-8
    AC REYNOLDS 5-4 / 7-11
    McDOWELL 3-7 / 5-11
    EAST BURK 2-7 / 6-8
    WATAUGA 2-7 / 5-12

    With the remaining game, the standing are subject to change very little. as SC plays AC friday, and Freedom has still to play them.

    This conference will probably go down to the wire !! There are 4 teams within 1 game loss going from 1st or 2nd to 3rd or 4th. Should be an exciting end to the season !!:fight:-- Guru
