    Final SWF 3A conference standings:

    Crest ................ 10 - 2
    Kings Mountain .... 9 - 3
    Hickory .............. 8 - 4
    Burns ................ 7 - 5
    St. Stephens ...... 4 - 8
    Fred T. Foard ..... 3 - 9
    RS Central ......... 1 - 10

Crest and Kings Mountain earn the only two conference playoff spots. Hickory, Burns and the rest of the schools must win the conference tournament next week to knock Kings Mountain out of the number 2 playoff spot and earn a trip to play TC Roberson in the opening round. Hickory and Burns missing the playoffs is a perfect example of why expansion of the NCHSAA playoffs to 48 teams should occur.

    WHC:
    1. North Henderson, 1 loss (finishes with West Henderson next Thurs)
    2. West Henderson, 2 losses ( yet to play, Pisgah and NH)
    3. Owen, 4 losses (yet to play Pisgah)
    4. Pisgah. 5 losses ( plays WH on Friday, Owen next week)

Top 3 go to the playoffs. The way Owen played on Tuesday they may be the hottest team in the WHC at this time.

    Conference Standings in NW4A

With the way that the NW4A looks right now, McDowell is in the best place to capture the third spot for the playoffs. In saying that, Alexander Central would have to defeat South Caldwell and McDowell defeat AC Reynolds.

    I think, as of 5/6:

    S.Alamance (10-2) (games left: vs. ECH, S.Durham)
Williams (9-2) (games left: BYancey twice, ECH)
Orange (9-3) (games left: S.Durham twice)
    S.Durham (8-3) (games left: Orange twice, S.Alamance)
ECH (7-5) (games left: S.Alamance, Williams)

A lot to be determined! Williams has a definite chance with weak Bartlett Yancey twice and they beat ECH 7-0 in first meeting. Southern Alamance lost to S.Durham 6-4 the first time around.
