Hopewell has played a very difficult schedule so far..... They are MUCH better than their record indicates. 4 of their losses are to South Meck, North Meck and Central Cabarrus.

If they continue to play well, they could easily challenge for a playoff berth this season.

    I'll fix my post.

    More Meca-8

Vance is 2-9 overall (I think), 2-3 in the conference. Non-conference losses to Butler (2), Myers Park, Providence, East Meck, Olympic. Host West Meck on Friday.

    Updated Meca 8:

Yet another weak attempt to get this conference right. Still not receiving scores from a lot of locations. The 2nd round of conference play starts today.

The conference leaders headed into tonights play:

    Meca 8:

I'm guessing on some of this, but here are the top-5 right now:

    North Meck: 13-2, 7-0
    Independence: 9-3-1, 5-1
    Central Cabarrus, 10-3, 5-2
    Hopewell: 6-6, 4-3
    Vance: 3-9, 3-3
    West Meck: 5-6, 3-4

Indy has a make-up game on Monday from tuesday's rainout. Don't let Hopewell's .500 record fool you. They can play with anyone.

    -----------------------------------
Players to keep an eye on that you don't normally hear much about:

    Seniors:
Ryan Brown, SS at Central is just plain fun to watch. Great lead-off guy.
Brett Richardson, OF at Hopewell is smacking the ball. Strong arm.
Alan Parks, OF at North may commit very soon.
Matt Cochran, C at Hopewell is hitting .400 on the season.
Jason Auten, OF at Central is college bound as a player. He's going to be special.
Seth Stringfield, RHP/IF at West Meck is a solid player. He could help a smaller program.

    Top Juniors & Others:
Robby Bray, RHP at Indy is putting together a very solid season.
Zack Pou, OF at North is becoming a great power hitting threat.
Andy Oliver, RHP at Hopewell is pitching very well.
Co-catchers: Robert Proffitt and Ben Heath at North are doing a great job behind the plate.

2upthemiddle: I need a Vance update. I haven't had a chance to see your team yet this year. Looking forward to meeting you on tuesday hopefully. Maybe I can get a lowdown on a lot of your players when we meet.

Vance is 3-9 overall, 3-3 in the conference. Play Harding tonight, followed by a tough 4-game stretch with the top 4 in the conference, and that includes the makeup with Independence.
