Here you go Hitman. Sorry for the late post, but my RoadRunner connection was down last night and AOL dialup is s l o w.

    Game 1:

    East Lincoln 4 (18-6)
    East Gaston 2 (16-8)

    EL: 4-4-2
    EG: 2-4-3

    WP: D. Rue (7-3)
    LP: Cline (6-5)
    SV: Hamby (3)

    HR: Belk (2)

East Lincoln was down 1-0 in the top of the 4th when freshman Josh Belk hit a 3-run HR to put East Lincoln ahead for good. This was only the 2nd HR of the year for Belk and the first also came off of Cline in the first meeting between the two teams when EL won 8-3. Both teams only gave up 4 hits each in the game. Now East Gaston must sit and watch the outcome of the East Lincoln - Ashbrook championship game. A win by East Lincoln and they knock East Gaston out of the playoffs. A win by Ashbrook keeps East Gaston in the playoffs.

    Game 2:

    Ashbrook 7 (20-4)
    South Point 6 (14-10)

    A: 7-9-0
    SP: 6-8-0

    WP: Bogaert (5-0)
    LP: Springs (5-4)
    SV: McCall (2)

    HR: SP-Teague, 2 (6), Harris (6); A-Martin (4)

After being down 4-2, Ashbrook came from behind to score 2 runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th.

Soph. Micheal Bogaert pitched well enough for Ashbrook to get the win, despite giving up two 2-run HRs to Matt Teague and a solo shot to Mitch Harris. All coming with two outs (I think). Wes McCall came in to relieve Bogaert in the top of the 7th, with 2 outs, after Bogaert had given up the second HR to Teague and bringing South Point to within 1 (7-6). McCall threw two pitches to Joe Springs who hit a fly ball deep into right centerfield that looked like it was going out, or at least fall in for a double. But, Ashbrook centerfielder, Sammy Asis, made a long run and made a tremendous catch while sliding into the fence to end the game.

Bogaert had a ground rule double that drove in two runs and tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 5th. Steve Klenovic hit a 2-out single that drove in two more runs in the bottom of the 6th.
Drew Martin led Ashbrook going 4-4, including 2 doubles and a solo HR.

Today, depending on the rain, Ashbrook takes on East Lincoln, at Ashbrook, for the conference tournament championship. Game time 7:00.

    Hey SPD...

Doesn't that automatically give East Lincoln the #2 spot coming out of the Big South 3A???????

Nope. East Lincoln has to win the tournament in order to replace East Gaston. If Ashbrook wins, East Gaston still goes as the 2nd place seed.

Don't trust Mr. B. He puts that Dominican viewpoint on everything! :)

Seriously, Michael pitched real well last night and was reall po'd when he gave up that last hr and was lifted. McCall's going to be teasing him all summer!!

    W.Rowan 1 Mooresville 0
W.Rowan took advantage of Mooresville's 3 mistakes (1 base running and 2 defensive errors) and parlayed Patrick Adams' pitching expertise into a win. Josh Haire pitched very well for Mooresville and kept the Blue Devils close. And if Mooresville is hoping AL Brown falls..............

Wonders 3 NWC 0 Game is now SUSPENDED in the top of the 2nd due to lightning with Kannapolis at bat, 1 on and 0 outs. Kannapolis is really hitting the ball well and appeared to have full control of the game. I LEFT so we'll have to wait on another poster for the final results. Peace.

    SPC Championship: Piedmont 2 - Concord 0

Piedmont defeated Concord 2-0 tonight in the SPC Championship Game. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth with two outs because of lightning and rain. With Piedmont being ahead, the game was considered complete, and the game was called after a one hour rain delay.

Senior Josh Bartlett pitched great for Piedmont allowing just one hit in five innings. Freshman Chad Dempsey allowed 2 runs and 4 hits for Concord.

Piedmont and Weddington will move on to the 3A Playoffs out of the SPC conference. Concord finished the season with an overall record of 8-14.
