Ragsdale Wins Tri County 3A Tourney

    Ragsdale 8
    E Randolph 6

    WP Trevor Mullins
    LP Nick Hylton

Another great game between two bitter rivals. Trevor Mullins pitched a good game for the Tigers, scattering 6 hits, striking out 4, giving up two runs. Hylton looked good for ER for three innings but he got a little shaky in the fourth giving up 4 hits and two walks as Ragsdale plated 3 runs. ER came back for two runs off Mullins in the fifth to get the game back to 3-2.

Ragsdale came back with five big runs in the fifth as ERs two relievers couldn't get the ball over the plate. Gator Lankford had the big hit with a 2 out 2 run homer which turned out to be the game winning hit.

Matt Kepley came in, struck out the side in the 6th but then lost his control giving up two singles, a walk, let a run score on a wild pitch and gave up a three homer to Ty Gywnn making the score 8-6 Ragsdale. Brandon Phelps came in and struck Scott Riddle to end the game.

Ragsdale was led by Chad Baker, 2-2, 2 doubles and a walk, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Matt Kepley was 2-3 and Gator Lankford 2-3 with the big homer to make the margin of victory.

Ragsdale played some great defense behind Mullins. Jake Kensmoe threw out Nick Hylton at the plate from right field to keep ER scoreless in the fourth and Brad Hodgin robbed two of ERs faster runners with great stops and great throws from his SS position in the third.

Alex Sink was 1-1 with two walks as a DH as it was obvious that ER was trying to pitch around him. Not easy with Chad Baker hitting behind him. Ragsdale is now 22-3 on the season looking good heading to the playoffs.

Eastern Randolph was led by Ryan Kirkman 2-3, single, double and 2 RBIs. Ty Gwynn was 1-3 and struck out twice but had the big 3 run homer in the seventh. Nathan Beasley was 3-4. Eastern is now 19-6.

And not sure what the score was but SW Randolph beat Asheboro to earn the 3rd playoff spot in the conference.

Thanks!! got that one, just wanted to make sure there were no upsets in that conference tournament...

Anybody know about the Traingle Alliance Conference or the Mideastern?
I know Hoggard is the top seed, but what about the #2? Would that be Laney, JAcksonville, or New Hanover? (or none of the above) I couldn't find it in the Star News online.

Did I hear correctly, Charlotte Catholic won 6 games in the regular season and then won their conference tournament? If so, who do they play in the first round?
