    Southwestern Foothills 3A Championship

    Burns 7 Hickory 1

    WP: Josh Drewery - 7 innings, 5 hits, 9 K's, 0 walks

Great effort from Josh Drewery in a complete game effort on top of complete game effort on Monday in Burns win over St. Stephens. Drewery pitching totals for the week - 14 innings yielding only 3 runs.

Burns scores 7 runs (only 2 earned) on 4 singles. Hickory pitchers yielded 11 walks and 1 HBP while the HHS defense committed 2 errors in crucial situations.

    SWF 3A playoff spots:

#1 - Crest (host to North Gaston in round 1)
#2 - Burns (travels to TC Roberson in round 1)

I thought the paper said this morning that it was
    #1 Green Hope
    #2 Fuquay
    #3 Lee County
If I am not mistaken Wakefield will play in the first round the #3 seed from this division

    Tri County 3A Semis

    Ragsdale 9
    Asheboro 3

Jake Kensmoe got the win giving up six hits and striking out twelve with a complete game. Alex Sink returned to the lineup to get three of the Tigers ten hits. Chad Baker went 2-2 with a walk and 3 RBIs and Ricky Payne crushed a 3 run homer in the fifth.

    Eastern Randolph 10
    SW Randolph --- 0 ( 5 innings)

Ragsdale faces Eastern for the championship tonight at Asheboro - this game is for pride and the trophy since Ragsdale and Eastern are already slotted for the top two playoff seeds.

Since Asheboro and Southwestern tied for third in the regular season those two teams face off at 4:30 today to determine which team gets the third playoff spot.

Can anybody tell me who ragsdale will face in the first round of the playoffs as the #1 seed out of the Tri County?

They get the #2 seed out of the SPC. I think that's Weddington.

    3A West lower half brackets...

Wossa, these are the teams that Ragsdale must go through, in order to get to the 3rd round. These 1st round games have already been established for the lower half of the 3A West, with all games slated to begin May 18. It looks like a very nice 2nd round game brewing with West Rowan traveling to Ragsdale...

    Weddington at Ragsdale
    Asheboro/SW Randolph at West Rowan

    Kannapolis at Eastern Randolph
    East Rowan at JM Robinson

    Two Rivers Conference Championship

Pine Forest and Lumberton faced off in a "Pride game". Pine Forest was the regular season champion and the #1 seed coming out of the Two Rivers Conference and Lumberton was in the #2 spot. Regardless of the outcome of the game, the playoff spots weren't going to change.

Final Score: Lumberton 11, Pine Forest 3

    Mid-Southeastern Conference:

The Mid-Southeastern Conference does not have a championship tournament. The final, regular-season standings for the playoff bound teams out of that conference:

    #1: Scotland County 17-6, 13-1
    #2: Richmond County 17-7, 12-2
    #3: Pinecrest 13-6, 7-4

You may be right, but I thought that Lee-Apex were playing for the #2 spot..... I will take your word for it though if the paper says so, I am about as confused as they get when it comes to seedings.

It has always been my understanding that any in any conference with a conference tournament, the #2 seed in the state playoffs goes to the tournament champion, if that champion is not the Regular Season Conference Champion. If a seed lower than #2 wins the tournament, then regular season seedings are bumped down a spot. I don't think that conferences can change this policy, but they might be able to. I can't recall the exact page of the NCHSAA handbook, but I am 90% sure of this. If someone can specifically point out that I am incorrect then I will have learned a new thing!! :laugh1: For example I will use the PAC-6.

    Seedings before the Conference Tournament:
    #1 Chapel HIll
    #2 Person
    #3 Jordan
    #4 Northern Durham
    #5 Riverside

If Jordan had won the Tournament, it would have looked like this:
    #1 CHHS
    #2 Jordan
    #3 Person
    #4 NHS
    #5 RHS

Since PAC-6 only gets 2 berths this year, then Person would have been bumped out. (Good thing for us that did not happen... :laugh1: )
