I read on SW4A.com that that champ game is at UNCC on Monday too? Are they both being played there or did something change?

    both

Both games at UNCC. First one at either 5 or 5:30 (that's been a cluster!), and the second after field prep from first game.

The Catcoachmobile (slightly uh dusty '01 Caravan) will be making the drive to UNCC for the show.
Doing my due diligence, and hoping just to get the opportunity to see one of them face-to-face later...
    hoping...

    I-MECK Championship Game

    Hopewell 0
    Hough 1

Zack Moore 3 1/3 IP and Pierce Suttles 3 2/3 IP combine for the WIN

Well played game by both sides.
Defensive stops made by both teams all night.
Another very tight game between two conference opponents/neighbors/former teammates.

Hopewell's sophomore lefty pitcher went the distance--mixed it up well all night w/plenty of nasty breaking pitches. FB was tailing in on those RHB tight!!! His future looks very bright as does the Hopewell pitching staff. My hat is off to their youngsters!!!

    PT 4A Championship

    E Forsyth 4
    SW Guilford 3 8 innings

Game was tied at two end of 7. SWG took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th. East had runners on the corners with two outs in the bottom and got the benefit of a blown call at third base that should have been the ball game. Sharp hit ball to the third baseman and he tagged the runner out as he came down the line - everybody there but the two umps saw the tag.

    Blown call?
    What is that?
By the way - it continues to astound me how umps don't know which of them is supposed to have which calls: touches of certain bases, catches at certain positions, tag-ups at certain bases - not to mention whether a HBP is one or not on full swings.
And I'm not talking about safe/out on bangers or givng strikes on the edge or low in the zone (though I hope for consistency) - that is what it is - I'm talking about knowing who even has which calls.
    Anyway...

Yes catcoach....a blown call! So here is the scenario the way you would understand it.....

The Bobcats are two outs away from a conference tournament championship against your favorite opponent E. Forsyth......ground ball down the third base line your third baseman backhands the baseball and the momentum of him catching it leads him to make "contact" or in other words TAG the base runner who is frozen on the play about 8 feet from the third base bag.....your third baseman turns to finish the play and see if he can turn a double play but there is no play....umpires look at each other.....No call! Important Info Disclaimer: Home plate umpire is looking down the line to make a fair or foul call on the batted baseball.....SO wouldn't you expect for him to see the "contact" of the fielder with the runner (and when I say contact I mean fielder has baseball securely in glove and is in between the runner and the bag as the runner is frantically trying to go back to the bag.....amongst the confusion the runner ASSUMES he is out and walks off the bag WHEN third base coach pulls him back on the bag places his hands on his shoulders and makes sure he does not leave the base......

so what would your reaction have been, coach?

First of all, I was being sarcastic in my "Blown call?" comment.
In my opinion, we had a couple last Friday, but our only having one hit trumped any BLUE FAILURE...

Second, from what you described I would have been slightly, uh, miffed if I was the defensive team.

Third, I believe the tag should have been the field umps call, though they could have come together.

Fourth, bumping into someone with the ball doesn't necessarily constitute a "tag" - though, as I already stated, your description appears to be in favor of said tag.

Fifth, any contact by a runner should constitute interference on the part of the runner - out by rule there.

Sixth, if the coach clearly touched (AIDED) his runner - AGAIN he is out by rule.

Seventh - refer back to FIRST - I was with you on the "blown calls".

    Whew! I'm tired...
