"WHS is very young and early in the year we played some tough teams but also struggled with inexperience. We are starting to gel."

In a game that most will consider an upset, the Pioneer men shocked West Caldwell with the 52-49 overtime win in Lentz-Eggers Gym.

Jumping out to a very early 10 point lead, Watauga showed confidence in handing the Warriors their first loss of the season. With West leading 49-48 in overtime, Jeff Newell's put back gave the Pioneers a 50-49 lead with 14 seconds left to play. A pair of free throws with 6.8 seconds left would cap the win at 52-49.

The Pioneers have now won their last five games in a row and improve to 7-5 overall.
