Major kudos to Charlotte Christian and Coach Greg Simmons for winning their sixth straight NCISAA 3A State Championship! This was a young team with a lot of players starting for the first time at the varsity level. They struggled at times and lost more games than they are accustomed to losing. But Coach Simmons kept the team together and they played a very tough out of conference schedule. Even though they did not win the conference title for the first time in six or seven years they hung together and played their best baseball when it mattered most, during the playoffs. This is a team that loses only two position players and one starting rotation pitcher. The JV team had a very successful season and should provide some solid players to a strong returning team. The future looks good for the Knights and Coach Simmons.

No matter what the level, sustaining the type of success that Coach Simmons has is impressive and he should be commended. He, along with his staff of Mike Rozack, David Houseton, and Brandon Swaringen should be congratulated for a job well done. They do it the right way and represent what is right with high school baseball.

    Amazing!

This time Providence Day and Country Day have to be "beside themselves." Out of nowhere Charlotte Christian did it again. This is really something.

The teams in this division are a lot better than people think. I remember Christian beating a solid South Meck team a couple of years ago and I saw Wesleyan Christian (High Point) beat Providence HS this year!

Too bad we can't put Charlotte Christian in the SW4A in place of "you know who" and really make things interesting. I'm sure they'd hold their own and do a very respectable job in that league.

    Congratulations to Charlotte Chrisitian (again).

What do you know about a young player they have, Trey Laney. I've "heard" he is a freshman who started every game. Also heard that earlier this year they were playing a team from Florida and after the game Trey was the only guy to get interviewed by Baseball America. Supposedly he was recommended to CC by Coach Leggettt at Clemson.

    Laney

Trey Laney is a Freshman and a good looking young player. He's got a lot ahead of him but he's off to a great start.
