    village idiot

hey village... i bet these boys will most definitely be thinking about the tough stakes that have been laid before them.. and thats why high point central should also be on here complaining about why they have to be the ones to face a mad alex. cent. team... i dont mind saying that ac is the best #9 seed team in the playoffs.. and no its huffman that was eligible for the wendys heisman... harrington is a great kid also dont know why they dont just throw him in that too.. but then we'd have 2 kids gettin screwed out of it cause of having to play on thursday

    here is the shafting

The things that upset the alexandrians about thursday play is that they have more wins (and finished (tied) 2nd in their conference) than HPC. the players arent as concerned about the thurday play as much as their following of fans are who subsequently will have to be back at work the next day. If you have seen the fan base of the "cougar nomads" then you would understand how upset these fans are. the only things the players are upset about is that they will have to be the away team throught out playoffs unless there is an upset. they also feel upset because last year they deservingly upset SC in the regular season finale only to find out that they would replay the game in the first round the next week were they lost... lost bad.

I understand how the draw procedure works when there is a conference tie. It still does not ease the sting of 8-3, going on the road to 6-5. The travel is not the iseue. The issue is there should be some changes made in the way the teams are seeded. Throw on top of it, the game will be played on Thursday. It is a burden for fans to travel from Taylorsville to High Point and then go to work on Friday. This from the NCHSAA, the same governing body that made countless concessions to teams across the state in the lastest re-alingement. But, our cries were falling of deaf ears. Haul your ass from Taylorsville to Asheville Reynolds on a Tuesday night for a basketball game. The kids if they are lucky get in bed at 1am, and then report for school on Wednesday. Nothing against Reynolds, they are a class school and athletic program but wow, the travel is hell for them. They wanted to play in a combo league in the mountains, no from the NCHSAA. You are right about one thing, High Point Central got a bit unlucky in the draw, the Cougars will be a tough out, damned tough if they continue to play the way they have played the last two weeks.

Yeah, we can't even get our "long" bball games all on Friday nights this year. ACR has to go TO Alexander Central and TO South Caldwell both on Tuesday nights and two weeks apart from each other. That should be loads of fun and have very LIMITED crowds in the stands.

Luckily we get to go to Boone on a Friday night!

    yep yep agreed!

yeah traveling there my 9th grade year on jv and 12th grade yr as senior was just horrible.. only thing that helped was senior year we came back down the mountain with a win but thank God we didnt have to get up early and go to school the next day which we had to when i was on jv's.. much less have the schedules that basketball and other sports do that must play through the week... i mean the well being of the students dont seem to be as high in my opinion as the NCHSAA is saying that it is.. its all for the $$ just like everything else in this world has turned out to be.

Of course I am not blaming the NCHSAA for our basketball schedule. I think the conference needs to consider the long travel games and make sure those games are played on Fridays when they make the schedules. They need to schedule those games first and then schedule the others around them. If AC, ACR, South Caldwell, Watauga all are going to do this traveling they should not have to do it on Tuesday nights, of course anywhere Watauga goes is going to be "long" travel, so that would be tough for them, but at least keep it as close as possible on Tuesdays.

watauga 's trael is not that bad. their worst trip by far is acr. i'll be every other trip for them is 1 hr or less. acr to s. caldwell is not that bad. try 40 to the rutherford college/ connelly springs exit (way before east burke exit) left for 7 miles to right on cajah mt rd (at fire dept) to s caldwell. takes about 1hr 10 min to asheville. the conference does need to and can with a little effort schedule these long trips for fridays
