First of all, who are you love of the game and how do you get your information? Second, the Davie baseball team made a point to not acknowledge any of the fans or players in a non-sportsmanship way. Unlike West who brought a couple of students who were cussing at the Davie players. Then after Davie won the game Coach Pope tells Coach Herndon "Merry Christmas." Of course that lit a fire in Coach Herndon after the last couple years Herndon has shook Coach Pope's hand and said good game. Davie had some students come on the field and wave their keys at West and tell them to warm the buses. Whit was getting interviewed by Brian Pitts and was the only player close to the fans so the players assumed Whit was saying this. West showed their a** last night and deserved a loss. They proved that they have 0 class and are sore losers. And for Coach Pope and his "Merry Christmas" comment... Karma's a b****.

Whoever started that mess about Merrifield is absolutly crazy. Whit had one of the worste games I've ever seen him play but I did not once see him slouch his head and if I remember correctly he made 2 put outs on Holt with 2 outs and runners in scoring position to help clinch the game. After the game he shook every hand and I saw maybe 4 guys even acknowledge him. After the game Whit got interviewed and the students were on the field yelling at the West players. Whit was the only one down there so it was targeted at him. He has more sportsmanship than anyone I've ever met. So apparently the players for the Titans don't know Whit that well or are just trying to make him look bad. Either way I take Davies side on this one.

big pitchers dual, n.davidson pitcher gave up 6 hits, rjr pitcher gave up 2

suicide squeeze put N.Davidson ahead in the 7th.

I agree with baseballfreak. Whit Merrifield did not say a word. He has more class than to mouth another player or team. West fans were pretty rude to our whole team all night long. But that's ok, I asked my son if heard them talking trash about him when he was at bat and he said he just ignores it and don't let it bother him, I think most of our players do the same thing. But, everyone knew it would be like that because Davie and West is such a big rivalry. It took our whole team to pull that win out, not just one player. So let's forget about that game and concentrate on the big one Friday night with East Rowan!!

Sounds like it was a great game at Davie on Tuesday with a hostile crowd. I was glad to hear that some rivalries in the CPC have been reestablished. Davie will have a tough game on Friday which will determine the regular season Champs. Now the question is WHO WILL BE THE CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR? John McDaniel or Cy Young from East. This game might determine who wins that.

If Davie wins Friday night John McDaniel better get player of the year. If it goes to anyone else there will be some mad people.

Coach Pope is one of the classiest coaches in the state. He would never disrespect an opponent...and he certainly has been tested

In my opinion Coach Pope disrespted the whole Davie baseball team when he would not go through the line to shake the players hands after West lost!!!!!!!!!

Sound advice...if they can't ignore HS heckling, they don't stand a chance in college. Most kids love playing in that type environment. They seem to get pumped up and rise to the occasion. It's the parents that seem to get upset about the heckling moreso than the players.

But I do remember last year when South Meck supporters went to West Forsyth for a playoff game bringing their cowbells with them...needless to say, the WF crowd was not warm and fuzzy about that :D

Shoot, I see Mark Snow a lot and he still gives me a hard time about that. I love the WF fans, Caldwell fans and Watauga. They are passionate about their teams...as I'm sure the DC fans are as well.

Obviously, I wasn't there so I can't comment about that. But I have known Coach Pope for many years and have always found him to be competitive, fiery and of strong character. He could be my coach anytime. I'm sure the DC family may feel differently.
