I think Brett was looking at ASU, but then ASU signed 12 other players including a rash of middle infielders....

He's still available the best I can tell.

One person who hasn't been mentioned for West Forsyth is sophomore P/3B Greg Holt. Greg was All-Conference last year as a freshman so I'm sure he will play a major role in the Titan's bid for another CPC championship. He is sure to get more innings on the mound this year too.

Coach Pope always has a bumper crop of good talent at West and I'm sure this year is no different from all the others. Oddly enough, last year was supposed to be a "down" year for West according to my contacts "deep in the inner circle" of West supporters. But they still won the CPC championship! So don't count West Forsyth out by any means.

I think some of the most interesting and intense games in the conference this year will be between Reynolds and West Forsyth. For years West beat up on Reynolds until two years ago. In 2003 Reynolds finally beat them three straight times and prevented West from reaching the State Playoffs. Last year Reynold's won two of three games against West. This year? Who knows. Both teams have very good players so the games should be exciting.

You're right, Holt is defenitely a good ball player and should contribute to West's success. He slipped my mind being just a freshman...now sophomore. West has an enormous amount of young talent in John Stamper, Holt, and a JV team that dominated last year.

I will agree with everyone else in saying that Holt is a good player but what position will he play this year? West is in need of a shortstop and Holt played third last year. But his partner in crime will be Stamper. This kid can flat out hit and run like a deer. But no one is talking about another player for west who should have a good year and thats nick seigrez. He can play IN or OF and he's a great leadoff man.

all i know is that there are 5 teams in this conference and year in and year out any of the 5 can take home the trophy. all have great kids to work with and play against. all have great coaches to coach against. it is a VERY competitive group that also has fun against each other. the fans like to ride the opposing teams but do it with humor and good nature. i love the south rowan kids that bring the couches and recliners to the game. i think this conference is under rated many times. a great high school baseball atmosphere. i am proud to be part of it.

Yeah Siega-Riz is a good pitcher as well...He's one of the better utility players in the conference because he plays every position well, and is an excelent leadoff hitter. He'll be the guy that Stamper and Holt will drive in because he always finds a way to get on base!

The west pitchers include: Dusty Snow, Brandon Johnson, Greg Holt, Nick Seigrez, Cameron Clinard, and Chad Jarvis. All those names are above average pitchers.
