First please do not turn this into a hate-fest!!!

Yesterday in EB vs Bandys game the umpire did not call infield fly rule with runners on first and second. Ball was dropped.

His explanation I had to wait and see where it was going to land

Note: Actually came out a little in favor of the team batting as the runners advanced
while at risk, but with the correct call they would have been close to home. However it could have been a disaster for the team batting.

Yesterday in the same game umpire was ask to watch for a crow hop

His explanation you can leap as high and far as you want then land, as long as you don't do it twice.

Again same game ball hit to center field runner on first, player drops ball while the runner is about 15 feet from first, the center fielder throws ball in to second for the force out; right. Ball to pitcher, runners still standing there, now 10 feet from first and the batter now on first, out> runner on first? ...

His explanation no words just hands out and a shoulder shrug

Note: Ball thrown back to second and runner then called out>

All that and it was still a good game with two close teams.

DD's friend was pitching in a JV game last week - Umpire walks out to the circle and tells her that she needs to slow her pitching down.

    :umno:

High School softball umpiring has not been good for years and it seems to be getting worse. In our area I only know of 2 good umpires that I liked to see coming when my DD's played. The others made it a very frustrating game because of the umpires.

Here is another good one. In the bottom of the 5th of a 15-0 ball game, the base umpire comes to the pitcher before the start of the half inning. Quote: You need to work on your pitching. The other team's coach says you are crow hopping. I am not going to call it since this game is all but over.

This is a pitcher who has never been called for crow hopping. If she was doing it, then it should have been called earlier. The issue was he did not know what he was talking about, just listening to the other coach.

watched a game here in the last two weeks. batter lays down a bunt fielded by the catcher. batter is running inside the base line with both feet on the fair side. catcher bullets one into her back and all but knocks her down.

when questioned about runner inside base line: she had one foot that was touching the base line and therefore she was legal????? when asked what the running lane was for he replied: i didnt know what those lines were for.....

    last thursday...

...two top ten teams in state. umpire overheard after game speaking to the other umpire: "i told you neither of these "bleep bleeps" could pitch if i took away the corners."

Maybe we could have a fan voting page for the top ten umpires in the state in each of the classifications!

Ball is bunted down 1st base line stops mid foul line. Ump yells "The ball is on the line-Foul Ball!"

worked out in our favor, next pitch she lines one into center scoring 2 instead of 1 and she was safe.

After 4innings of play umpire called illegal pitch. He then proceeds to call every pitch after as illegal until there is a pitching change. When asked how this has never been called through a 7 year career including a full season of college ball........his response.... Florida umpires are better than anywhere else. So for all the blue and wanna be's.......the bar has been set and you know where to go if you want to be the best. LOL

Good One Fishdude I remember that !!!!!

Heard a good one at a college game recently also
Batter asking for time and after not giving it to her he tells the coach you must have something in your eye to get time called !!!!!!! The Coach almost cried she laughed so hard :)
