I'm assuming that you know he means the NOCSAE stamp showing that the helmet meets the required standards. If it didn't have one, then he was correct not to allow it; should your daughter have been injured by something the helmet should have provided protection for, it's his @$$ on the line for allowing a helmet he should not have. Just because the helmet is new, doesn't mean its legal.

OTOH, pointing the NOCSAE logo out to him should have corrected the problem.

I've never heard of a rule stating that a fast pitch bat had to meet any such drop number. What rules are you playing under?

I don't think there is a weight/length minimum-maximum either. Some girls swing -8, -9, -10, etc. I have a girl who swings a -11.5 so she can get the length she wants without using too heavy a bat. They DO have to be able to see the ASA stamp. As far as the NOCSAE stamp, it is permanently affixed to the Helmet and faceguard. (Must be on each) It's usually on the back of the helmet but can be under the bill or inside. Some faceguards have it on a little plate closest to the jaw, but I have seen some who stamp it on the underside of one of the crosswires which make up the guard. You have to look close but once you find it, you'll know where to show it to the ump. Kinda hard to believe a Mizuno wouldn't have it. In your best interest to find them in case the ump isn't sure tho.

Runners on 1st and second. Pop up behind the plate (foul ball), umpire calls infield fly rule.

Runners on 1st and 2nd, batter hits slow roller to first. 1st baseman picks up ball and attempts to tag batter walking towards 1st. batter starts retreating back to home plate. 1st baseman throws the ball and it goes into RF. Batter cicles the bases. Umpire rules Homerun!

Some umpires call strikes if ball is pitched over the batters head or call a batter out after an infield hit as she is 3 - 4 steps beyond 1st base.

The umpiring is terrible (not all umpires). Alot of umpires in the Durham area should not collect a paycheck as they are awful.

.....correct and there are "stamps" for a helmet and the facemask now.

I called Grand Slam and they corrected the problem immediately.

My point in this thread was that the ump gave little time to try to see where the "stamps" were.

All he had to do was run his fingers around the bill of the helmet and he would have felt the imprint.

It was a park and wreck league. They say they used ASA rules with modifications. Minus 10 max drop, steal when crosses plate, no dropped 3rd strike rule. I know, very strange rules.......

    smc championship game...

ball hit to fence left field... left fielder throws glove off, runs to fence, retireives ball and throws back to cutoff... ...field ump, "i didnt see it" plate ump, "unless the glove is thrown directly at the ball, then its a no call".

if i remember correctly, the batter, who got a single out of it, should have been given 2nd or 3rd base.

    Ball was under the armpit

Player called out looking on strike 3 on an obvious ball. Reaction from the fans was negative to say the least. Ump turned and said ' Ball was under the armpit'

Why? Did the glove hit the ball when she threw the glove?
