Correct. She can drop her glove. Not sure why she would and Rule 3-6, 16 can come up if Umpire feels she threw it . If it comes in contact with the ball while it is not in its proper position, it should be treated as a blocked ball.

Only if it was the 3rd out of the inning Fish. If it is not the 3rd out, then the batter-runner is out as soon as they retreat, but the ball is still live and in play.

Are you sure on this Jester? I had understood the batter is out as soon as she retreats and its a dead ball and all runners return to there base. That was my understanding of the rule.

nope, just threw glove on ground...

I do not believe she attmpted to throw the glove at the ball. threw the glove off as she turned to run to the fence and retrieve the ball.

    Happened last year...

This happened in the college WS last year. Runner on first, batter hits ball to first who is charging. First goes to tag batter running up the line, batter stops and goes backwards. Immediate dead ball was called, batter was out, and runner was sent back to first.

UH OH I think I was wrong. Last time I thought I was wrong, I was mistaken. LOL Just Kiddin all. I'll look it up, but I don't think it kills the ball when the batter abandons her attempt to reach first.

Nope wasn't mistaken, I was wrong. Rule 8-2, art 8. Penalty: The ball is dead and runner(s) must return to the last base touched at the time of the interference. Well, there went all my credibility LOL.
