The Campbell University softball team is hosting a Donation clinic on November 7th, 2009 from 9am-12 at the Campbell softball field in Buies Creek, NC. The money raised is going to help Amanda Littlejohn and her family (see story below) with Amanda's medical bills due to her fight with skin cancer. Amanda is a wonderful person and a great softball player. We want to do everything we can to get Amanda back out on the field!

In the summer of 2007, Amanda Littlejohn (starting catcher for Campbell University) was diagnosed with Melanoma. That summer, following her freshman year, she had surgery to remove the mole on her eyebrow. After a long recovery she was able to come back and play for her sophomore year. She earned the team MVP and was named to the all-tournament team at the conference tournament, helping her team win for the first time in 13 years.

During Christmas break of her Junior year, doctors found a tumor on Amanda's brain right behind where her mole was. She had surgery to remove the tumor and was unable to compete for her junior year. As soon as she was released to work out she got herself back into shape so she could come back to compete in her redshirted junior year.

On September 12th of this year (less than a month after returning to school) Amanda got very sick and went to see the doctor. They found another tumor in the same area. She went home to California right away and she had her surgery on October 4th. They ended up finding a second tumor during the surgery and were able to remove them both. She is healing very well, but in just a couple weeks she will have to start radiation. Because of this she will not be able to compete again this spring.

As a team we are trying our best to support Amanda and her family from thousands of miles away. Her family has medical bills because of this 3 year battle and we want to help them any way we can.

If you are interested in attending this clinic or need anymore information please let me know! You can view Amanda's bio here: http://www.gocamels.com/ViewArticle...6&DB_OEM_ID=15300&ATCLID=809842&Q_SEASON=2009
