WOW! Big crowd on hand last night for the Championship Game @ LP Frans (Crawdads) Stadium!

Patton Pathers rally in impressive fashion. No hits through the first 3 frames by either team. FTF gets 3 in the top of the fourth and Patton looks to b left for dead before getting one back in thier half of the 4th.
Trevor Tallent blasts a 2 run jack to tie in the bottom of the 6th and he followed that by blowing away the side with some impressive pitching in the top of the 7th.
Panthers get a leadoff single from Eli Lawson but he is erased on a baserunning error and Pattons failure to get sacrifice bunt down. The game appears to be headed for extra innings when Patton stages a 2 out rally. Aaron Attaway singles up the middle. A Foard error puts runners at 3rd and 2nd and brings up Dykota Speis. With first base open and Tallent on deck, Speis ended with a game winning left field wall rattler to win the game and Patton's first Championship.
Attaway was announced as the CVAC player of the Year. Patton placed Attaway, Nick Newton, Chris Fine, Trevor Tallent and Nick Newton on the All Conference Team.
    Congrats to the Patton Panthers.

I have a question. Does the CVAC name an All-Tournament Team and an MVP?
It would be difficult to pick and MVP but I would go with Speis who won the semifinal and final 2 game in walk off fashion all while continuing to recouperate from mono. Tallent would be a close second with his clutch hitting and fireballing pitching. The stadium was not operating the radar gun last night but Tallent, a 6-2 right hander with a big frame had to be hitting 90MPH.

Wow is right. Foard pulls McKinney after 3 no hit innings with a 3-0 lead. Does Foard really think that Patton is going to roll over and die at that point? :disappointed:

"Nobody expected us to be here anyway...", said Coach Vogel. If you're the underdog, you've got to give it your best shot all game long. Right? I feel badly for the kids.

Congrats to Patton on an outstanding tournament and fine season.

    RB,

McKinney was lights out last night for sure. But the Patton starter, Ryan Grady also threw 3 scoreless, no hit innings when he was pulled. Tigers got their 3 runs in the 4th. I could not really understand pulling either of them as a sweet pitching dual was shaping up.
Still, a great game. Would like to have seen extra innings because I felt bad for the Tigers and the CF on the misplay.
    But thats baseball.

Coach Vogel pulled McKinney because he wants to start him friday in the playoff game.

Understand, and figured as much. Coach Scott was obviously planning for playoffs as well. I guess it comes down to priority.
Do you want to win the conference championship that is certainly within your grasp or do you hedge for the opportunity to win in the first round of states.
If my team has a legitamate chance of going deep in state playoffs and winning the state title, I surely consider the hedge. But as a 5 seed in your conference tourny, your in the championship game, I probably opt to win the conference tourny at all costs and allow my team that destinction and accomplishment and whatever happens in state playoffs is a bonus.

Both Coaches wanted to some of their pitching ready for the playoffs, that is why they pulled their pitchers out after 3 innings. It was a great and exicting game. This team has been fun to watch all year and I have really enjoyed my first season helping out with baseball at Patton.Great group of kids to be around. They love the game and want to improve each day.

Foard should have left McKinney in till the 5th and then put in Henderson to close it out.

I think if McKinney would have pitched 5 innings he would have been able to throw friday too.

Absolutely agree. It was a great game. Any idea if there was an All Tourny Team named. I was there for the awards ceremony.
I saw the All COnference and COY & POY but not the tourny specific awards.
    Anyone know?

There was no all tournament team or tournament MVP.
