CVCL Championship and Post Season Awards

    The CVCL (Carolina Virginia Collegiate League) tournament championship game was played on Monday August 4, 2008 between the Kernersville Bulldogs and the Catawba Valley Stars. The game was an exciting pitching duel matching Dustin Belk (Catawba Valley Stars) against Greg Conrad (Kernersville Bulldogs). The game was scoreless through 7 1/2 innings. The Kernersville Bulldogs scored the game's only run in the bottom of the 8th and Kernersville held on in the top of the 9th for the 1-0 win. Greg Conrad recorded the 2 hit complete game shutout. Josh Strickland (Kernersville Bulldogs) was named the CVCL Tournament MVP. The Kernersville Bulldogs (coached by Mr. Dale Ijames) finished the season with a record of 40-11.

    CVCL POST SEASON AWARDS:

    Offensive Player of The Year - Casey Justice, Catawba Valey Stars

    Defensive Player of The Year - Josh Strickland, Kernersvile Bulldogs

    Pitcher of The Year - Steve Edgerton, Catawba Valley Stars with 9-1 record

    Player of The Year - Greg Conrad, Kernersville Bulldogs with a record of 7-0 with 2 saves and an ERA of 2.38

    Yes, the CVCL is a summer college wood bat league.

    Collegiate Summer Wood Bat League

    Plans are being made for a Raleigh-based team for next summer.

    that's good..........where will they play? Raleigh had a team in the Coastal PLains League for a year or two when the league first came about, then it left. Played then at the old Doak Field / NCSU.
