Prepster, there is a sports memorabilia store on the street that runs just outside of left field. The times I've been, they will park you in behind the store for a flat fee ($10?). Whatever the cost is, it included free beverages (beer or soda) and hot dogs or whatever else they have cooked up. It's not glamorous, but you're right in the middle of the action. Good luck.

    Great Job Woody!!!!!!!!!!!

Ofcourse....... all of us who know you, and have watched your successes over the past few years, aren't surprised at this accomplishment. For those that don't know him as well, here is a link to the article on Baseball America about him. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/cws/261743.html

I read where he gave all the credit to his and his pitching coach's preparation. Typical Woody.......we all know that the coach can only call the pitches.....it's up to the pitcher to make it happen and Woody is as good at making it happen as anybody I know of. Congrats again and good luck to you and your teammates.....bring the hardware to North Carolina.

I'd have liked to have seen Prepster at this game..........probably squirmed and paced the whole game. Prep.....man, you got to be proud of this one.

What a game, and what an outing on the bump. What a great performance and it will be something he'll never forget.

Something I notice about the CWS is they really don't rush it. Only 2 games per day; which this helps with being able to pitch your main guys. Unlike most "tournaments" where sometimes the same team will play twice in same day.
Should be interesting to see how UNC finishes out; with their pitching it is quite possible that they would win it all. I'm an ABC'er so let's hope not!!

When Robert was a young kid, he dreamt about pitching for UNC and playing in the CWS. After Opening Night festivities, Prepster said Robert remained after everyone went home and stood on the mound....I bet I know what he was thinking.

    ...and what a great Father's Day present:229031_ha

    Clemson???

Clemson just can't seem to get it done when it comes to the CWS. They are good at getting to Omaha, but then seem to fade out quick.
    #1 national seed?

& UNC not a top 8 national seed??

A few more observations from Omaha during the lull:

First of all, many thanks for the warm wishes from our friends here. Your support means more to us than you can imagine.

The last few days for the UNC team have been a mix of morning practices (at a variety of high school fields) and sightseeing on non-game days. After Monday's paractice, the team visited the local childrens' hospital. I think that trip meant a lot to both sides. Then, on Tuesday, they toured the Omaha Zoo, which is top 5 in the U.S. and adjoins the Rosenblatt stadium complex.

Each evening they've not played, they've also been able to attend the games as spectators. One of my personal highlights of the week occurred Monday evening when my son and I sat WAY down the left field grandstand (2 seats from the end) and watched the Miami-Rice game. We chatted with fans from a variety of schools who sat around us and just sort of took it all in on a very pleasant evening weather-wise.

This morning, the team is practicing at Creighton University. They'll relax this afternoon, and this evening players and their families are having dinner at one of Omaha's favorite, local steakhouses. Afterwards, we'll probably take in what remains of the Oregon State - Rice game.

As you might expect, the volume of Carolina Blue-clad fans is increasing. Last night, when the team returned to its hotel following its win, there was a big crowd of fans there to greet them. B.J. Surhoff was among them.

Needless to say, it continues to be a great ride; but, as my son always says to enthusiastic well-wishers, "We've still got a fair amount of work to do."

Thanks for the update Prep; keep them coming

Also, I hope you know how jealous I am that I'm slaving away in 90+ heat and you are checking out the Omaha Zoo, going to games and Omaha's finest steakhouses while I'm typing away eating a hot dog.

Oh...when you get a chance, check out this thread as well

    Oregon State pitching

OSU's pitching, although stretched more than Carolina's, looks very impressive with minimal rest. 2 straight shutouts, first time that's happened in the CWS since 1992.
Nickerson pitched 7 innings on Mon. night, allowing two runs on four hits; & pitched 7 innings again tonight, allowing only 2 hits & no runs. The OSU staff has allowed only 4 runs in the last 36 innings. Their closer has 19 saves.

    Go Beavers!

side note: tonight's Rice /OSU game was not a typical aluminum bat game: the 2 teams totaled 5 hits & 2 runs.
