Daddys on the field in HS ball?

i've seen good and bad on this issue. i've been a hs coach for seven years now, and started as a dad, but i just taught basics/covered first base for varsity, coached the jv team and left my dd to the head varsity coach. but i've witnessed some things that made my head spin.

parents are ok as long as they understand that the "daddy thing" is left in the parking lot. some parents truely have a lot of good things to offer to a hs team and the only true issue is trying to persuade or influence playing time for their dd or her friends. we have had this issue in the past, and the parent was given a choice to be quite and help, or just leave. they got the point.....truth be know, we couldnt of done as well as we did this year without help from a few parents.

ok, lets look at it this way. the AVERAGE hs coach probably played slowpitch in their past. that is a world away from fastpitch. a guy who has coached his dd and her friends for the previous five or six years and can help in hs is an asset period (alright, in most cases he can be an asset).

in my conference, all seven teams have had a dad help with them at one time or another, one of them was the head coach (very successful) and five were assistant coaches. we wouldnt be at the level we are without their experience, training or help. so in some cases, its not bush league, its just common sense to improve the level of the game.
