This was a big weekend for several 18u travel teams as a few went down to Savannah, GA and one to Texas. The NC SUn Devils-Elite chose to go to Chatanooga, TN for the Gold Diamond tournament held at Warner Park adjacent to University of Tennessee-Chatanooga. We finished up 2-0-3 for the weekend. We beat Peaches Gold and Oviedo Blaze, and tied Alabama Crusaders Gold, East Tennessee Royals, and Georgia Fire. Excellent showing for out eam that played 6-2010's, 2-2011's, and 2- 2009's.

This was a excellent tournament and by far the best softball facility I have ever been to. The had 5 fields and also used UTC's stadium as a 6th field. The competition was very good, umpiring was above average, college coach attendance was strong as well. Miss State, Kentucky, G-Tech, Mars Hill, Upstate, Tenn Tech, just to briefly name a few schools that were watching. There were many more...

Dave Fannin puts on the tourney and does a great job! Please consider them next summer and fall for a possible showcase. www.softballnet.net

How was everyone elses tourney this weekend?

The Lady Lightning finished out tournament play with a 4 to 0 win over the Fort Worth Batbusters.

They outscored their opponents 20 to 2 and did not allow an earned run the entire weekend.

    Great play Ladies.

I am sure your future coaches are looking forward to having you join their teams.

    Great weekend

Lady Lightning Gold had a great weekend. Thanks Mama Duck for keeping up with the team.

This Lightning Team has gotten much deeper and younger and had significant contributions from the following underclassman.

    2010 players
    Chelsea Hartsell
    Nikki Legg
    Ashley Czencher
    Mickey Williams

They are also adding a couple of more to this roster for 2009.
The college following for this group is stronger that we ever imagined.

It is great knowing no matter where you go play the colleges want to see your kids play. This group of players and coaches has a great process to get the attention the players and parents are looking for.

This team will continue to put players in strong D1 programs for a long time. Look out for the 4 players above, they will be heard from.

    Greenville NC Tournament

Saw several coaches at this tournament from NC:
    ECU
    Methodist
    Greensboro College
    Fayetteville
    Chowan

    just to name a few

I guess with so many tournaments the coaches really had to do their
homework to decide which to attend

The Carolina Rage had a good showing and we look to an even better
    one in Myrtle Beach!
