Are they really carrying 37 players to Jupiter? Have added several studs (Kyle Greenwalt, Josh Thrailkill, Jason Place, Alex White) to an already stellar roster. Going all out to win the thing. How in the world do you keep 37 players happy?

I don't think all of those players will be going. Josh is playing for Midlands Redskins. Also, some of those players are underclassman that Andy has invited for the experience. Whoever goes down there with the Dirtbags, Andy will ensure they will get to play. To the best of my knowledge, in the 4 years he has taken a team down there, every player has had an opportunity.

I know one thing, if a team is going down there to win the tournament, they will need 12-14 pitchers

    Thats alot of pitching

I doubt many of those teams have that many. Cubs have maybe six primary pitchers and maybe three more that could throw if needed. If you are right, they could run short if they survive pool play. I don't think too many guys could throw seven on Friday and then throw another seven on Monday. Sounds like you are describing a war of attrition.

Believe it or not if you make it to the final rounds on Monday you will need the pitching....it happened last year with us. As they say....you can never have enough pitching....:satana:

The one year we finished 3rd, we played two games on Monday and had we won the last one, we would have played the third (Championship game)

I don't know of any team that will field 30+, but I guarantee you Baseball America and many others will have at least 10-12 pitchers. You really can't bring pitchers back (although it does happen) on one or two days rest.

And you are correct, it can be a war of attrition. Most teams will pitch at least 2 pitchers a game x 7 games, including the championship....you can't have too many pitchers if you are trying to win the tournament.

You will need the pitching. When the Florida Bombers won it this summer they thru 12 different pitchers in a total of 9 games.) But they were very fortunate.......they had 3 starting pitchers who threw 4 innings in their pool play games.(Matt Latos, Drew Taylor from Wake Forest, and Paulo Espino.) They finished the remaining 3 innings with relievers. This allowed the 3 Studs to come back in the round of 16, then 8, then the Semi's. The Championship game was by committee. 6 different pitchers including 4 in the last 2 innings.
The point is we ran out with 12 REALLY talented arms. Plus the tournament was a couple of days longer. I really don't know if 12 is enough. It is a real Battle....thrust me.
