I keep reading about stats on the pitchers, but not on any other players in the field, without the other players, the pitcher wouldn't have any stats. It takes all (9) positions to play a game, and all positions are important...lets start seeing some stats on the infield / outfield players-------HUHHHHHHHH ????

    Could not agree more!

Yeah, how about the other 8 positions on the field? How about how many runners the cather throws out at 2nd? How about the person who may not hit a homer everytime but has highest OBP? I remember when kids were small, the parents were always screaming, my little Shelia wants to be the pitcher, or play 1st base, she doesn't like the outfield. Well if the outfield wasn't there then the pitcher would be one busy, busy little angel, now wouldn't she be? There are 9 positions on a field for a reason! The players that play those positions deserve as much rave and attention as the pitchers, 1st base, SSs, do!

    What about the other positions.

I agree 100%. I've always said that the pitcher gets all (or at least most) of the glory, but it takes the whole team to play the game. Be humble.......and never forget it.

She's fine and ready to play some more ball. She and Jordan did base coaching in Friday's game. Coach wanted to give the younger girls a chance to play. Did you see whree Chelsea pitched a perfect game Thursday? Yes it should be tons of fun, can't wait.

throughout the glorious history of "ball" it is the pitcher who gets the win or the loss. Every boxscore from the time the very first was printed was this way. The reasons are obvious... the pitcher has the single greatest impact on the game... if this is so in baseball we all know how much more a great pitcher impacts a FP game.

    definately correct

but, have you ever watched a hs team with only a pitcher and a catcher????? lots of 1 run games, lots of extra inning games and lots of frustration for the pitcher and catcher. but, you're right, cant compete without good pitching.

and a pitcher can throw a no hitter... an error, a SB, a sac and she OR he gets the loss. BTW, yes in the interest of full disclosure, I do have a DD who pitches and I wish she didn't! My point is that a long time ago greater minds than ours decided on how stats were reported. I dont think there is any reason to question it really.

in some ways, i'm glad that my dd's pitching career is over. watching the flustration in highschool, and the fact that we transfered out of a team that won the state twice, had to have some negative influence on her. she did learn humility and got thick skin real fast. but i believe she's found herself in coaching hs, she's putting life lessons to work for other girls and the sparkle is back in her eye. now we have a team that can flat hit the ball, but limited pitching. ask me later this year which one i ended up liking!! lol
