Those teams with just pitcher and catcher?

I personally have never watched a game with only a pitcher and catcher! They must be EXTREMELY talented! How do they get to those pop flys to the outfield! Or does this pitcher never have a ball hit, bunted or slapped? And I guess a walk is un-heard-OF! Where can I get a ticket to see this game? I would be interested in watching this! These 2 girls must be exhausted at the end of 7 innings!
IT IS CALLED A TEAM SPORT FOR A REASON.................that means there is a TEAM of players that play the game. You can't even play a game without at least 8 showing up! And just because baseball does something one way, it is not chistled in stone that it can only be done that way! When a team has mistakes every member of that team gets punished at the next practice. So when there is a great performance by a pitcher, doesn't the whole team get to celebrate the win? Yes they do! I mean there isn't this excluesive party that only the pitcher and catcher attend! Think about it!

    alright now

you know what we meant, yes, nine players, sometimes ten, but only two experienced players, 1 pitcher and 1 catcher. it takes everyone's talent to win, but try doing it without a good pitcher or catcher!!

Would it be better if we also listed along with the winning pitcher putouts and assists for each of the 9 players? Might take up a little more room.

Cheeze I'm sorry I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings

Come on Cheeze man, I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, I just get so sick of hearing that if it wasn't for that pitcher we could have never won this game!! A lot of times a pitcher doesn't even donate to the offence of a team! Believe it or not a team can actually win with an average pitcher and good/great bats! It is more runs in your column that wins! Give the whole team credit for wins and losses!
    Now I wish you all
    Peace, Love and Happiness

naw, hard to hurt my feelings

i see where you're coming from, but i've been on the coaching side of a team that had a great pitcher/catcher combo and, well, highschool girls with no travel ball experience behind the two and we had some good years in the past four, but more times than not, our pitcher had to strike out the side to end the inning because we couldnt make simple putouts. this year it is the opposite, good offensive power, good defensive players, but inexperienced pitching/catching. i'll tell ya how it ends up and which i would prefer. but with an 0-4 start, i'm kinda leaning toward the experienced pitcher/catcher thing ee. lol

Just this weekend during an ACC baseball commentator was talking about how there ought to be STATS on catchers how they save bad pitches form going to the back stop. A good catcher can make a pitcher look better at the mound if she is well versed in her job...I don't see anything wrong with keeping STATS on each player, and their contribution on winning or losing the game..the only thing that I don't like is the only STATS that we post are always the ones that make are DD's look like they're the only ones playing the game...GURU

I agree Guru.. My daughter plays 14U and 16U TB. I like how some parents talk about how good their kid did, but left out the errors and stirkeouts. That kills me. I praise my kid when she does good, but I also get on her when she doesn't. I don't brag on her because I don't want her to think she is better than someone else. I always tell her there is someone ALWAYS better than you. You can be as good as you make yourself. You work hard you will see results. Just my 2 cents.....

How about double plays...now that is a stat that the Atlanta Braves use to lead in the National League years ago...you hardly ever hear of that STAT in girls softball....:bigear:

thats an excellent stat, takes teamwork and good communication and lots of practice. i think we've turned three in five games (turned four, but score one for the ump). two were 4-6-3 and two were 6-4-3. gonna hate to lose these seniors, second baseperson has the sweetest backhand toss i've witnessed and for all of the young girls wanting to play second base, she practices this throw for at least 30 minutes per day and has done so for last three seasons.
