Does anybody else REALLY miss playing the game?

Every year around this time, I used to be so antsy for baseball season to begin. Back in my playing days, as soon as the holidays passed I simply COULD NOT WAIT for the middle of February for the season to begin.

I played high school ball, showcase ball, Legion ball, AAU ball, etc. I pretty much played baseball year-round and it defined who I was as a person, all the way from age 8 or so up through my senior year.

I had the opportunity to play in college at some smaller schools but I chose to come to Carolina instead for the education, and because I always wanted to go to the business school at UNC.

I have loved every second of my college experience at UNC but gah, this time of year is always rough!

How long has it been since all of you guys gave up the game, and how often do you still regret that your playing days are over?

 

Played baseball my whole life and in my early to mid 20's I started to play softball. Believe me I know it's not the same, but when you love to compete you compete. Where I grew up and the time (old school) we didn't have all the options that are out there today! Regular league softball turned into very competitive (travel) softball, so once I experienced that I knew that there were more guys out there just like me! I did that until my late thirties and unfortunately my body said "Your done son"! Yeah it's a tough time of the year, but look at things this way ........... you had the opportunity to play and you did. Those memories will be with you your whole life! Thank goodness there is MLB channel to help as well!

If you still want to get at it, there are opportunities-

From screen name, looks like maybe two more spring semesters at Carolina - try the club team.

Once out of school, look around for some senior leagues and I am sure you can also find opportunities to help out coaching.
