    H OR E

I was only referring to the type of long fly balls I see hit sometimes to the "warning track" or base of the fence that should be caught and they get a glove on it but sometimes the ball is dropped or glances off the leather. Wondering how they actually get scored........... hit or error. that's all.

    Hey East! ........

........in this case, the ball was hit high, wind blowing it hard to foul territory. The RF made a great effort trying to run it down. In doing so, her momentum carried forward as the ball kicked towards the line, as we all know happens, and she was left in lonely land to go back, retrieve the ball and throw it in. Now as for your examples....."warning track, should have been caught, glancing off of the glove", lets move this very interesting subject into a seperate thread. Is a glance off a glove a hit or error, what is the definition of "it should have been caught"? Can a scorekeeper give an error to the SUN when a kid loses it in its rays? Is a bunt with a kid on 3rd, not thrown to 1st, on purpose by the fielder, because the kid on 3rd is the winning run, is that a hit? Should scorekeepers give an error to the pitcher, fielder? How about when a pitcher "hail marys" a bunted ball to her, over the 1st basemans head slam into rightfield, then that kid scores........God forbid that be called an earned run! New thread is on its way!!!
