While they seem to be going in the wrong direction, if they win out, and Ardrey Kell loses to SM and 1 more game, then SM will finish in the top 5 and make the playoffs. AM I correct on that?

Congrats to Doug Jones for getting back on track, maybe his slump is over for good.

The Coach there just needs to find some hitting from others who have not had achance to prove themselves, let the Seniors play that have proven over the years that they can hit the SW4A pitching, worry about your younger guys later.

Somehow, someway, find a spark plug to get them going, hopefully they can find a teammate to give them the lift they need.

Let's go Sabres, get it done, shock the world.

Don't see it happening, but there is a chance....Pitching is a problem as well...Of course, stranger things have happened....Just don't see them going far whether they get in or not ...

They'll compete, but for the first time in a few yrs., It won't be enough...Good luck, regardless!!!

Sure wish the Kinard kid still played at SM. He looked great tonight, lead off with a home run.

I still have hope, but a parent tonight told me that the coach lost the team on the first day of tryouts. Said it was like a t-ball tryout, one day of hitting off a tee, and throwing 90 feet into a tarp. I sure hope that is not true.

If he did ose them on the first day, it would be hard to ever get them back. Seems they have lost all respect for him and have given up. I sure hope not, come on guys, if any of you players or parents read this, and I know that a few do by the comments, get it started tomorrow night, do it for all the players who have come before you. Do not let the years of success in this program end with this class.

Its a shame that the coach is being blamed completely...The players have some accountability.....The team is just not as good as the parents want them to be this year......They will be better in the next few yrs. I hear.....Good luck....Its been a tough year!!!

Agree TMJ....the players have a lot of accountability in this one. I've watched several games this year, the players are on the field and in the batters box....not the Coach.

If the players don't want it to end here they still have time to change it and get themselves in the playoffs...stop worrying about things you can't control like weather or not the Coach lost the team....if the players want it bad enough they can control what they do on the field.

Not true at all!!! He's just a different type Coach than Bagwell. It's amazing to me how some stories get started. You can't continue to put blame on a guy when it is not his fault. With the split with Ardrey Kell (7 players), this year's team has taken a beating so far. The boys like this Coach and want to succeed, but it just it going to be extremely difficult without better pitching. As far as the fault is concerned, how can you blame the Coach! This actually happened; ..... a parent told me that their son (a senior) was not hitting the ball this year and blamed the Coach. What????? I haven't seen the Coach play one inning this year. Some parents just don't have a clue. On the bright side, this team may struggle this year (which is obvious) and maybe next year as well, but in 09 & 10, this team will be extremely strong. Have some patience people, ALL teams have their ups and downs. As far as the Coach is concerned, .... with him NOT coaching football this coming year, shows me anyway, that he gets it and will do what needs to be done to get this program back on track.

    Gotta score runs!

Unfortunately, the bats never came alive for South Meck against Davie County. Daniel Glenn settled down after the first inning and kep't South in the game until the 5th., but outside of Spencer Shuey making some things happen offensively midway through the game, South never threatened. Just a poor night at the plate for the Sabres. Defensively they played pretty well, led by Doug Jones play at short.

A lot has happened this season at South which has already been thoroughly discussed on TBR . Give South time and they will be back. For that matter, they can still make a big run in the SW4A tournament this season!

As for the future, the jv team is playing well this year, and with two returning varsity pitchers in Joseph Shealy, and Daniel Glenn, and the addition of Tyler Woods from the jv squad, the future looks pretty good. It is way to early to give up on the program. We don't expect the kids to give up on the team, so as fans, we can't give up on them either.

Keep playing hard and finish the season strong!

Like i have said, it is not all the coach's fault, however, at some point he has to coach(teach) these proven players, what is wrong at the plate, pitching etc... While they may not like the coach, if he would just once help them, it certainly would help.

    No offense HONKER58, but....
You said it in the statement above...(these proven players)....

Proven players shouldn't have to be told how to hit, pitch, run, give 100%, etc, etc....Some degree of teaching and coaching yes......but

I'll give it to you....Maybe the coach isn't motivating and giving the kids what they are accustomed to, but every coach is different and as a senior and a proven player you adjust and make the best of it...I know its easier said than done....I'm sorry I don't agree that its the coaches fault and that he could have some how, made a big difference...

I don't think, had Bagwell stayed, they would have been to much better than they are..Sorry, its just a opinion.......Let them play hard and and enjoy the rest of the season without all the drama...They can still play hard and make a difference, especially the seniors...

    Talent vs. Coaching

Interesting issue. I'm sure the fall of SM Baseball is a gut wrenching subject for you.
