There are a lot of prospects out there in this years senior class but if you could pick any 9 to fill a lineup out who would it be and where?

We need to add some eastern players on there. There is a reason they win championships every year.

Doug Jones over Merrifield? I'm not sure about that move. I've gotten a chance to see both of those young men play and I don't feel Jones brings the all around package Merrifield has.

It's hard to leave Sam Runion off this team. How about Sam pitching and Madison as the DH.

    WNCBB....

I like it, you get another quality pitcher on the mound along with a quality "stick".

    07 Team

Clarify that this is your 07 HS dream team or your 07 all Western NC team.

My dream team the entire state.

LF Trent Whitehead Washington HS ECU
    CF Quincy Lattimore Middle Creek
    RF Ben Bunting Randleman UNC
3B Greg Holt West Forsyth UNC
    SS Justin Jackson TC Roberson
2B Whit Merrifield Davie County USC
1B David Mailman Providence Wake Forest
    C David Shambley Green Hope
P Stihl Sowers North Lenoir ECU
DH Zeke Blanton East Rutherford UNC

Whitehead - As good as they come period. Signed with ECU. LH outfielder who can flat go get it. Swings a great stick and is one tough out. Plays every game like it is his last.
Lattimore - There is not a better hitter in the state. Tremendous power from the right side. He has outstanding speed and knows how to use it on the bags. He can flat run them down in cf.
Bunting - A speed demon on the bases and the outfield that can run down anything. A lefty that gets out of the box and makes things happen. This kid can flat out hit. He will use the whole field and he can flat out run the bags. He is a heck of a player.
Holt - No one better I have seen in this class at 3b. Very solid defensive player with a true plus arm. The kid can swing it thats for sure and hits for power and average. A gamer that shows up big in the big games.
Jackson - The best defensive short stop period. This kid makes tough plays look easy. Has great arm strength and speed. A good hitter that will only improve at the next level.
Merrifield - Plays the posistion period. There is only one other kid as good and he is an 08. Merrifield is a gamer as well. He plays the game with passion and has the skills to go with the make up. A tough out that uses the whole field at the plate. Very good player.
Mailman - Known for his clutch offense and straight up ability to just flat out hit. But he is one of the best defensive first baseman you will see at the HS level. LH hitter and thrower Dave has power and can hit the ball gap to gap as well. And I must add one of the most classy and humble kids I have met.
Shambley - All this kid does it do his job. No passed balls. Throws guys out. Handles pitchers excellent. Tough quiet leader on the field. David can flat out hit as well. He is as solid as they come.
Sowers - Folks this kid is flat out nasty. At WWBA he was low 90's with tons of movement on everything he throws. He was dominant at that event. Also I might add that he has two rings at North Lenoir and sits in a good posistion to pick up his third next season. Signed with ECU. Stihl was lights out at the State Games and has been lights out at every event he has pitched at.
Blanton - Tough hitter. Never gives in at the plate. Will battle you bigtime. If you make a mistake he will make you pay. Gets out of the box and turns singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Will use the whole field.

    Batting Order

    1. Bunting
    2. Merrifield
    3. Lattimore
    4. Mailman
    5. Holt
    6. Blanton
    7. Shambley
    8. Whitehead
    9. Jackson

    Rotation:
    #1 Sowers
    #2 Bumgardner
    #3 Rothlin
    #4 Leach

    Closer: Poovey
    SU: Simmons
    RP: Harrington, Greenwalt, Williams, Mincey

There are many others you could put on this team.

    Jason Wallace Ragsdale OF
    Chris Luck South Granville OF
    Tyrell Worthington South Central OF/INF
    ? Moore Northern Nash OF
    Brandon Sutton North Lenoir OF
    Brian Allen Southern Nash OF/INF/C
    Aaron Parnell South Johnston INF
    ? Gay Northern Nash 3B/1B
    Jon Mclamb West Johnston C/P
    Cam Falcon Northern Durham SS/P
    Chad Womble Rocky Mount P
    Colin Parker Princeton OF/P
    Trent Rothlin Foard P
    Justin Poovey S. Caldwell P
    ? Mincey New Hanover P
Greenwalt ? Saw him this summer wow P
    Harrington ? See above P
    Penny Whiteville P
    Hossebrock ? P
    Bumgardner S. Caldwell P/Hitter
    Ryan Leach Kings Mountain P/INF
    Vance Williams Athens Drive P
    Seth Simmons Calvary P

Ive missed a ton of guys here. There are so many that I have seen. The fact is this class is loaded with outstanding players from the coast to the mountains and everywhere in between. I hesitate to list players because I know that I have left some guys off the list that belong. Mostly because I am getting old and my memory aint that great. As soon as I post this some more names will pop into my head. The fact is I have seen all these guys play. And they sure can play.
