    Isn't that....

Isn't that EXACTLY what All Conference, State Games, Gatorade Player of The Year and other awards and such do?????
What is wrong with someone giving their opinion of who they think the best players, would be??? Opinions are like guesses, we all have a lot of them!!! I personally would nominate my DD! I don't know if anybody else would agree or not and truly I can't say I care, if they do or not!! LOL
I had no problem with the concept of this thread! I wasn't put off by the subject matter at all, but oh well!!

Do you just want to put the best possible team together or do you want to also have the players looked at by colleges? It would be fairly simple to put together the best team possible, but if you want to let girls be seen who have not made up their minds it would not be as simple. Pretty simple in my opinion...the hard part is coming up with a coaching staff. Once the staff is in place the rest would not be that hard as long as the reason for starting the team is known.

    Two fold

First again, this is a concept. We would put the team together for two reasons, one to see how the NC talent can compete on a regular basis with western and or Fla. and Ga teams. I think so far, we have competed well with Fla and Ga teams. Second, to get all of the "top" girls for lack of better term a chance to shine with college coaches who can see that home grown talent is just as good as western talent. Also, to show western schools, midwestern schools that they are missing out on some excellent talent. It would be up to the individual players to decide what area of the country they wanted to attend college but at least they would have more options. Several local teams have done well in Nationals ASA A divison over the last few years and the one Gold team did pretty well finishing in the top 25 this past summer. Also, in showcase events, several teams have done well in Texas, Fla., Va, Missouri, NJ, Ga, etc.
Again, keep things on track here, not trying to break up any teams, call out top players, just introducing an idea much like many of the other post by GURU, Cheese, Marlin, etc. Stimulate thought!

Exactly! I like the idea myself and wish it would happen. The first thing would be to put the coaching staff together. The second thing is to determine why you are putting the team together. If you put together a team of college freshman and high school seniors that have already committed there would be no reason to play showcase ball...that is my point. Like I said...I like the idea myself and wish it would happen, but the parents and kids would have to know exactly why the team was built. I never thought you were attempting to break up any teams nor have I said that.

    Good

My intent as always has been to showcase kids, not win championships by bringing in all my past graduates, etc. I know many teams all over the country do that and let's be honest it helps build the name of the organization so schools will watch that team play. That can be helpful, no question! If we used signed or committed kids, no doubt we may fare better just because of maturity but think of the experience the kids that are trying to get signed would have. Makes more sense financially to have unsigned playing. Well maybe I am taking this thing to far but just wanted to see what people thought.

    It only makes sense....

It only makes sense to use unsigned, uncommitted players, that is the true reason for TB isn't it, to showcase their talent, to get them seen by collages? Why take a bunch of signed or committed players?
In my opinion, the only purpose for this concept, should be for unsigned or uncommitted players, to go out and see how they stand up againest opponets they have not seen locally or regionally, and to see where they rank! To show the collages, country wide, the level of talent that the south has to offer! To give these players the opportunity to be seen by collages that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to be seen by, is a good thing!

    Good Concept

There could be an elite team put together with the talent from NC that could compete at the highest level. The only problem I see is there are enough "top talent" players to field more than one elite team.

As far as allowing playing with their regular teams in showcases, most directors do allow it. The "Hot Times" however will not allow players to compete with a team, other than the one they sanction with.

    1 Possibility

If girls regular teams somehow did not qualify for A nats, could this be put together to catch a gold qualifier, after State Championship. I would like to see the best team, college fresh, HS Sr & Jr's.(signed or committed) Just 1 Kick A$$ team to go compete with West Coast. After this summers nationals, Playing 2 California teams, 1 winning nat. champ, the Cobras beat both of them. So I feel the talent level in NC has darn near caught up. But at least 1 team from NC will qualify for "A" nats by winning State, so it would be hard pressed to "borrow" gals from that team.

    Context...

....look nere my brother and TBR friend, I don't intend for my posts to be "ruffling feathers" until my feathers are ruffled. NOW. As for this THREAD, I'm sure all of us have thought in general how cool it would be IF,....GET IT? IF...such a team could exist. But You, Abbey, an astute, very knowledgable softball man, and I consider you a valuable friend indeed, ..but you have to know how devisive this whole topic can be. Abbey is one of the most influential members in the softball community, and I"m sure his intentions in this thread were of class! I was poking at the thread not my friend Abbey!

    Chemistry....

...and its value is crucial when equal talent competes one another. It may seem like theres no difference in a SS/2B combo or P/C bond in some levels of play..(that in itself might be argued that age does not matter), anyway, there lies in the grand balance of the "best" equation the simple fact of teamwork/chemistry/attitude/desire/goal!
