This team looks so impressive early-on, that they deserve their own thread. Plus, I'm hoping by doing this they succumb to the TBR jinx.:supergrin
    Just kidding.

Seriously though, this team is playing really well out of the gate with a 4-0 record outscoring their opponents 52-27, with two quality wins over Millbrook and an always solid Orange High School. A senior laden team that swings the bat well from top to bottom, quality pitching 3-4 deep and excellent defense. A second year coach, Doug Blowe, who has them well prepared and playing the game with discipline and maturity. This team has the potential to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Maybe cltr2rdu can add some names and numbers to give these kids some props. I saw where the Tofaletti kid has homered in every game. wow!

Riverside has an early season showdown Tuesday (3/14) with an excellent Roxboro team that will give an early indication toward Pac VI supremecy.

That's it...poor Riverside. The TBR jinx will always get you. Coach Evans must be smilin' now. He's got a win in the bag

Serriously, I've been following Riverside, too. I believe they may be the best team in the state.

Nine runs yesterday off of Sam Brown!!! I am not quite sure I believe this after what I saw this summer. Can anyone fill us in on how that happened. Walks? Errors? How many hits?

I have said this before, they are a very good team... They have players that have not gotten a lot of press/noteriety over the years. Seth Moorman (SR/C), Matt Tofaletti (SR/INF/RHP), Daniel Benner (INF), Justin Ducan (RHP), and Barrett Stover are very solid. Man can these boys hit the ball, which is obvious after the run production they have put up. Coach Blowe is a no-nonsense guy that has done a great job with these boys. I just hope we play well on Tuesday in the PAC-6 opener... as for us, we'd better take care of this afternoon first, before we start looking ahead to Tuesday.

I will say this right now, any college coach that doesn't take a serious look at Moorman and Tofaletti will most likely miss out on two good ones!! I dont know of any college team that wouldnt want them.

I know that Tofaleti will be playing at Penn this fall. Moorman, Duncan, and Benner haven't committed to colleges yet as far as I know.

The 9 runs they scored on Brown were a combination of hits, walks, and errors. Riverside batted around in the first on him. 5 of the first 6 batters scored, 3 on a HR by Stover. Brown settled down after the first inning, but I think Riverside had 9 hits against him before he left in the 3rd.

I don't know if I'll make it to Roxboro for the game next Tuesday, but I'm sure Coach Evans will fill us in on the details.

Based on watching Brown pitch all fall, Riverside must be the best hitting team in the state. I doubt I saw nine hits off him last fall against some of the best competition around.

I've got some stats for Riverside. I'm friends with the assistant coach there. These are stats through the first 4 games. He said to be sure to mention they haven't been triple-checked yet, but this was what they had on hand. No pitching stats at the moment.

    ---------------------------------------------
    Team stats
    4 Wins, 0 Losses
    Def. Raleigh Enloe 12-6
    Def. Orange 18-7
    Def. Raleigh Enloe 7-3
    Def. Millbrook 15-11

    R - 52
    H - 59
    E - 11

    BA - .450
    OB% - .519
    ---------------------------------------------------
Looks like I won't make it to Roxboro on Tuesday. Hate to miss what should be a good game between two hot teams.

:agreed: Definitely Oriole. And the coaches would probably be the first to tell you that. In fact Coach Blowe would probably prefer that nobody notice the team at all until it gets some defnsive consistency. They can't count on a dozen runs a game all season to save them.
