    Hounds vs. Bulldogs

Stretchy, besides rain, you've got some legal trouble brewing as well. Seems you've scheduled a dog fight, which is illegal here in Wilson County. Animal control is standing by.

    Quarter-final game at Wesleyan College

SBA Charlotte Hurricanes 17u vs Long Island Storm 17u

Bradley Robbins and Kevin Torres on the mound for each team hoping to lead his team to victory and a semi-final berth.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning a single by Andrew Pope, a BALK and an rbi single by Zack Hummel put the Hurricanes on the board. They lead 1-0.

In the bottom of the 3rd a single by Jacob Gavin, an error and a wild pitch give the Hurricanes another run. They lead 2-0.

Top of the 5th and the Storm get 3 consecutive hits by Rodriquez, Disanza, Real put runners on the bases and then a steal of home puts the Storm on the scoreboard but a caught stealing at the plate ends the big threat. Hurricanes 2 Storm 1

Hurricanes get the run back as Will Ray singles and is sac bunted to 3rd base and scores on Sam Foy two out single.

Heading to the 7th and last chance for the Storm to "pop up" and do so damage! The Storm dyes out on the radar and the Hurricanes win 3-1 and advance to the semi's where they await the winner of Wilson Bulldogs and Huntington Hounds. Complete game tossed by both great pitchers!

Post Game comments from Head Coach Jake Robbins: "Great individual effort by Bradley on the hill but wins and losses are always a team thing. The culture of this team is stronger than any team I have ever coached. Continuity and competitiveness as a group pulling together is fun to watch."

Stretchy: Question for Coach Robbins: Tell me about SBA Showcase?

Robbins: "SBA opened 10 months ago by John Owens and myself to help further kids development in the game of baseball. We call it player fullfillment to develop a well rounded young man on and off the field. We have had a good year with a record of 28-6 and made to the final four in 3 consecutive tournaments (Impact WS, Canes WS and App State Showcase.")

    Quaterfinal game at ECU...

The voice of showcase, Mr. Bill Petty, has his pipes all warmed up and we are getting ready to start the first game of the day here at ECU. The top seed in the 16U bracket, the Tidewater Drillers 16U, will send Sam Sinnen to the mound and will be opposed by Brad Witkowski of the #8 seeded Long Island Storm 16U. The Storm look to do the same as mother nature and rain all over the Drillers parade.

The Drillers jump out on top in the bottom of the first after back to back singles by CF Jordan Sergent and SS Nick Walker. Sergent advances to third on a deep fly ball to center by 1B Turner Bishop and scores on a wild pitch to make it 1 - 0.

The Storm strike right back in the top of the second after a triple by Patrick Madigan and a RBI groundout by Joseph Lombardo. After two complete, we are all knotted up at 1.

The Drillers push a couple across in the bottom of the third. A leadoff walk to P Sam Sinnen and a sac. bunt by SS Landyn Neumann, followed by a walk to Sergent, a single by Walker and then a RBI walk to Bishop. After a batter was retired by the infield fly rule, 2B Kenner Berry drew the second RBI walk of the inning before the Storm could get out of the inning. Three complete and the Drillers lead the Storm, 3 to 1.

What an ending to the top of the fifth!!! After Madigan reaches on a dropped third strike and the follow batter strikes out. Sinnen picks off Madigan, then proceeds to walk Luke Leonardi and then gives up a long drive off the the top of the LF fence. Drillers LF Kenner Berry plays the ball off the top of the wall, very well and slings a relay throw to SS Nick Walker who then guns down Leonardi at the plate with a great throw to catcher Kurt Sinnen who applies the tag and ends the Storms threat.

Walks have been the theme of the inning here in the bottom of the fifth, as walks to Sergent, Bishop, Neice and then Kurt Sinnen gets and RBI with his walk. 3B Nick Faison comes through with a 2 out, 2 run single to push the Drillers lead 6 to 1.

The Storm is not going quietly as they have loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and S. Sinnen can't make it the distance as he is relieved by Nick Faison. The Storm scratch one out as a run scores on the first pitch from Faison, which was a little wild. The Storm are trying to make a game of it. Lombardo comes up big as his liner scoots under the glove of Walker and drives in a run. Storm now trail 6 to 3 with the tying run at the plate. After Leonardi goes down on strikes, Brian Trabulsi rips a single into left center that scores Madigan and the Storm have the tying run at first. The score now stands at 6 to 4 as Chris Prete draws a walk to load the bases with two outs and Kieran Ryan looking to tie it up with a hit.

The Storm make it interesting here in the seventh, but come up just a little bit short as the Drillers hang on and win this quaterfinal 6 to 4.

    Update from Williamston Riverside Martin...

Mother nature is once again on the warpath, as she dumps a ton of rain on Coach Hank Tice's field as the GBC Prep Stars lead Titans Baseball of NJ 2 to 0. The teams, fans, and coaches are now in route to ECU to finish their game. The winner of the the delayed game will play the winner of the game in progress right now at ECU. We will keep you informed!!

Both teams have made it to ECU and the Titans are taking the field in the top of the fifth as the GBC Prep Stars lead this one 2 to 0.

Sorry for the lack of details, but Titans strike for 3 in the bottom of the fifth. Four walks in the inning mixed in with a couple of RBI singles and a RBI groundout push the Titans ahead. Going to the top of the seventh, GBC now trail 3 to 2.

GBC Prep Stars get two in the top of the sixth on a couple of walks and a one run single and one run double. The Stars had a couple of boo-boo's on the basepaths this past half inning that could come back to haunt them.

The Titans get three on a walk, a RBI double and a two run single to now make the score, 6 to 4 going into the top of the seventh.

The Prep Stars are still battling here at ECU as they have put the tying run on first with two outs. Fingernail biting going on, on both sides of the field.

The Prep Stars battle to the bitter end, but can't pull it out as the Titans win 6 to 4.

    Semi-Final at Wesleyan

The Wilson Bulldogs have just arrived and are ready to play the Hurricanes BUT mother nature has just slammed the field with a gully washer!!

She is furious that we are trying to play games without the proper rain gear uniforms. Apparently Gortex wants to be our sponsor!

    16U Semifinal....

We are underway at ECU with a 16U semifinal game, where the top seeded Drillers are facing the fourth seeded Titans. Stay tuned for updates...

The Titans knock on the door, but can't get in...A walk to LF Shane Finley, a singleby RF Vince Cahill and another walk to C Michael Jennings had loaded the bases, but the Drillers get out of it.

A lead off single by 2B Colin Dower, a sac. bunt by 3B Vinnie Sorrention and a couple of wild pitches and the Titans get the first run of the game. Catcher Kirk Brandon follows with a single and then 1B Dave Osnato takes one off of the helmet and the Titans are looking for more here in the top of the third.

The Titans scrape one more together and Sorrention gets the RBI when CF Jono Govantes scores on the single...going to bottom of four, Titans lead 2 to 0.

We are now in a weather delay at ECU, full field tarp is on and just hoping we don't wash away!!! I think Noah has got his arc in the parking lot to get us back home.
