Dynamic World Series is in Greenville, NC this weekend for the 16U age division and 18U age division. Please post facts from the weekend as it comes along. There are a lot of quality teams in this event. Was reading diamond bits off the canes website www.canesbaseball.net and saw there were at least 12 scouts in attendance tonight. Great stuff for the regions baseball.

I read Cubs go 4-0 in pool play and win out in that... way to go guys! Sounds like Cranmer is on fire... wish we were there, but Tiger Town and East Coast Pro is a lot of fun too! Keep up the good work Cubbies... get it done!

    Great Weekend of Baseball

What a great weekend of baseball at the Dynamic World Series this weekend. Mother Nature wound up winning the event, but it should be noted that the Dynamic Staff did an incredible job getting as many games in as they did under extreme circumstances. The Greenville area was hit hard 3 consecutive days with thunderstorms and yet most everyone still got in 4 games or more. The table was set for an exciting finish with the likes of the Canes, Cubs, Hammond Chiefs, On Deck O's, Charlotte Heat, Richmond Reds, Lake Monsters, and Baseball U in the 17U Playoff Bracket. The Canes and the Cubs were both undefeated and the 1 and 2 seeds. I would have paid extra to have seen that matchup in the Championship Game.

In the 16U Playoff Bracket, the South Canes 16 and NVTBL Red 16 were about to square off in the Championship Game when the monsoon came. I got a chance to see the Canes North 16 team that just won the WWBA 16U National Championship and what a fun team to watch. That team is absolutely loaded with D1 talent and possibly several draft picks out of High School, but what was amazing to me was that the South Canes 16's were just as good. I watch the semi final game at ECU and the South Canes 16 were dropping bombs out of that place like it was batting practice. They must have hit 5 bombs in that game. The NVTBL 16's were very impressive alsopulling off a major upset of the Canes North 16's in the other semi final. I would love to have seen the Championship Game between those two teams but it was not meant to be.

Im sure everyone was as disappointed as I was to have the tournament end without being played out, but again everything humanly possible was done to beat mother nature this weekend and the guys running the event should be commended. Mother Nature just would not be denied.

Richmond Braves Red vs Charlotte Heat
Carolina Cubs vs On Deck O's Black 2010
Lake Monsters vs Hammond Indiana Chiefs

Personal stuff: Many many thank you's to Diane Thompson for the incredible amount of time she puts in and lack of sleep she gets while reworking the schedule over and over again to try and get all the teams games in. She must be one tired saint tonight. Thanks to my local buddies for filling in some roster spots this weekend at the last minute as some teams were shorthanded.

Last but not least a big thanks to the 21 umpires (and the field prep guys) that worked this weekend and had to put up with all the changes that the rain caused. Great job guys.
