I think the top three will be Alexander, Reynolds and South. I mainly base this on the fact that all three have very good pitching. Alexander has 2 good pitchers (yea Pierce has been hurt but she should do fine). Reynolds also had two good pitchers last year and don't look for a let down there for this year. SC as far as I know only has one good pitcher but she is pretty tough. All three starting pitchers for these teams are senoirs who have pitched at least two years on varsity so they have the experience. Alexander has a lot of talent all around so I will pick them to win the conference. Reynolds has a couple holes to fill from last year. How they fill them will determine how well they do.
SC didn't lose much but they have a new young and inexperienced head coach. That could hurt them so they will have a little unknown factor. Watagua will have very good pitching also but till the rest come around they will not be able to compete for the top but I see them as a fourth place team.
Freedom and Mcdowell are tossups for me. East Burke needs to improve all around. Don't see many wins there this year

I'll agree that Central and Reynolds are at the top but I don't know about South at #3. They do have a good pitcher but Freedom beat her twice last year with their two Sophomore pitchers. I think that 1&2 are a toss-up- who can survive against other teams and 3-6 will be very interesting. It's nice to know that the conference is a little better this year than in years past.

I will have to agree with Central-D. The 3 best pitchers this year will be from Alexander, Reynolds and South Caldwell. Those 3 teams have also consistantly been the class of the nw4a and until the others prove they can play with them year in and year out they will remain the favorites. With that said all three of these teams have had a down year along the way but were able to come back the next year. That is what it means to have a good program and not just a good year. It is good to see the other teams starting to catch up which makes the conference more fun. Good luck to all this year. Here are my picks:

    Reynolds
    South Caldwell
    Alexander
    Watagua
    Mcdowell
    Freedom
    East Burke

I guess it's hard to pick the conference without being biased toward your home team. I do agree that the two best pitchers are form Central and Reynolds(Reynolds actually has two(Bombace & Huntley). The fourth best pitcher in my opinion is from Watauga(Riley) South's pitcher is pretty good, but not top 3 or maybe not top 5. McNeely is pretty good from McDowell.
Anything can happen in any game but Freedom swept South last year and knocked out their pitcher in the first game. I'm sure she's better but Freedom only lost 1 quality player from their 3rd place team last year and only loose 1 this year. I know it's hard to forget about their past but I don't think they will finish 6th. With all that said it's going to be a good year and I'm sure the new coaches in the leauge are ready to get started(Luckadoo-McDowell/Brookshire- South)

    1st- AC Reynolds
    2nd- Alexander
    3rd- Freedom
    4th- Watauga
    5th- McDowell
    6th- South
    7th- East Burke

    predictions

    1. A.C.
    2. Reynolds
    3. Freedom
    4. Watauga
    5. South Caldwell
    6. Mcdowell
    7. East Burke

The pitching in the confrence has got better as a whole, but you have to beat E. Pierce to win, and she is a competitor, and it helps that her team can hit. Reynolds will be real good, good pitching. Freedom will be decent if they can score against the better teams. Watauga has a good young pitcher, but can they score? South, Mcdowell, and East Burke pitching?

Looking foward to the season as it should be the best that all the teams as a whole have been in years. Like to congratulate all the coaches and ladies that have worked hard to make their teams better over the years, good luck.

Here is my prediction for the 4A/3A Big South Conference

    1. Forestview
    2. East Gaston
    3. South Point
    4. Ashbrook
    5. Hunter Huss
    6. Crest
    7. North Gaston

But rest assured, this might be the tightest race for the conference title to come along in many years.

    small wager?

Crest is going to suprise quite a few, but there is no way that Huss will finish fifth, more like first or second, six returning seniors, six returning juniors, seven travel ball players, two excellent freshmen, three pitchers vs one???? Most experienced pitcher in the conference, Only position we lost last year was first base, replaced with a 6'3" junior. But the biggest advantage for Huss will be the elimination of a certain ump (no details will be given) Understand that Katie C. is back pitching, Huss hit her for .465 vs .231 against Coe. most always a close game between huss and fv, record is 5-4, forestviews favor for last three years. thing is total runs for both teams in last three years is identical. should be some good games. like the catcher from fv, girl could really bowl which is a difference story.
