I think it's absurd for a 13 or 14 year old girl to be able to verbally committ to a school. In my opinion, girls or coaches should not be allowed to committ or make announcements regarding a school prior to her Junior year. Seeing these coaches making announcements for Freshman & Sophomore just seems ridiculous to me as well. I just can't understand why anyone would expect a 14-15 year old girl to make such important decision at that age. I'm sure that TB coaches that frequent this board will completely disagree with my post and I'm completely fine with that.

    THE NEW WORLD OF RECRUITING

Unfortunately, this is the new way of the recruiting world!
Kids are getting locked up early these days. It's definitely different than that of the last 5 years ago or so.
Whether you agree or not, it's here to stay, unless there are restrictions placed by the NCAA, which many college coaches I've talked with, don't foresee.
