    From Salisbury Post:

The Legion regular season is scheduled to begin very early on May 20 this year. Area III Southern Division games scheduled for May 20 are Lexington at Rowan, Kannapolis at Statesville, Stanly at South Rowan, Mooresville at Wilkes and Concord at Mocksville.

The Area III All-Star Game is planned for Randolph's McCrary Park on July 1. The playoffs are scheduled to begin July 3. Jim Lippard returns as Area III commissioner.

    Yes it is early

Northern Div. Starts the same day, a lot of schools will still be in the playoffs. They also say that is the 1st day of games. Why do they have to start league games so early?

    Thoughts from anyone else?

Haven't seen a complete schedule yet, but I was thinking last year the league games seemed to be spread out more than in years past, with only 3-4games per week. Just seemed we had a lot of open dates to schedule our nonleague games,,, I guess the commish is wanting to get started with league games asap, because (as you know) with weather delays there are always several teams struggling to makeup games and get everything in by the start of playoffs. Thats the only thing I can figure for May 20 start.

    TJ,

You are right, only 3 games per week scheduled, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday. Would rather see 4 games per week and not start so early. Then we could schedule non league games early and play with JV players if we have to.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

EARLY LEGION SCHEDULE DUE TO NATIONAL SCHEDULE

As I understand the State Playoffs have to be completed a week earlier this year because the Legion World Series is a week earlier. The Legion World Series is earlier due to the National Meeting being pushed up a week due to hotel conflicts and its traditional that the Legion World Series be completed before the National Meeting. This has tightened the schedule up this year. I am not happy about the start date and wish that that week could be used for non-conference games if the posts had players able to play. I am sure there will be Legion schedule changes due to HS playoffs more so this year than last. But as usual we will work it out somehow.

The Northern div. conference schedule is complete, unless you need to re-schedule with someone for what ever reason & I do believe the Southern Div. is also complete. I have certainly scheduled non league games with some Southern Div. teams
