Early verbal commitments

I have one question, I have been told that college recruiters can not talk to you until July of your junior year. If this is true, how do some girls that are graduating in 2013 already have a verbal commitment with a college.

A coach can talk to a player BEFORE July of their junior year if they are ON CAMPUS. Most of the "offers" are made while at camp or on an "unofficial" visit.
If it's a big D1 you need to be "on their radar" no later than your sophmore year. After that, while it is not unheard of, it gets more difficult to get their attention. Most "big timers" want their classes done by the spring of the kids junior year.

Simple. They call your HS or travel coach and tell them to have you call the coach.

 

Commit

A player can verbally commit by contacting the school and telling them she wants to attend that school and play softball. Of course, she would have to qualify academically when the time arrives.
