    Nice point Red Wolf

These kids are playing at college stadiums and venues and the coaches are seeing them much earlier. When a player shows what some of these have showed against the type of competition they play against it speeds up the process. Tools are tools. If your 6'3 left handed throw mid to upper 80's , run extremely well , drop bombs and you are 15 you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure the kid is going to be pretty darn good when he is 18. If they dont offer early someone else will and might beat them to the punch. When you get an offer from the school you have always wanted to go to what are waiting for anyway? Fine if you wait. Fine if you dont. The fact is the only people that have to be happy with the decision to make an early decision are the ones directly effected by it.

There are a couple of programs outside our state that are pushing this early process. They started this a few years back. They were coming into NC and offering kids early and getting verbals. The schools in NC were missing out on some very talented in state kids because they were getting beat to the punch by these schools. In order to stop that from happening they have had to do something they really dont like to do. I could name some kids that were cherry picked early by these schools that really got this going but there is no need. Most know who they are anyway. So you do what you feel you have to do. By the way those schools have outstanding programs , coaches and they are great schools.

By the way my son verballed to the college program he is at when he was 9 years old. It just took them a few years to accept it. :waving:

    Newspaper Article About Early Commitments

Here is an article published in today's News and Observer (12.14.2008) that addresses the concerns surrounding early commitments. It's written from a basketball viewpoint but I think the information is equally applicable to baseball.
