Nice gym, upper deck on both sides as well as seats at one end of the gym behind the basket. If you have ever been to Freedom, it's almost exactly the same.

I would say you could seat 2500. I don't see it being full in the NW4A tournament unless the right teams get there. Reynolds, McDowell, and South Caldwell girls all draw good crowds. But no one seems to care about the boys teams. The other night between MHS and FHS there was probably 1500 people there for the girls game and by halftime of the boys game the crowd had vanished. There was probably a few hundred to watch the boys. That was an insult to both teams!

U knows its amazing that there was only like 100 people there for the boys game against mcdowell.I remember in 1997 when freedom an mcdowell played the fire marshall refused to let any more in it got so packed. It was almost half full by halftime of the jv girls game that night. Also Freedom and mcdowell would pack most gyms every time they played.I wish we could go back to those days.

Let's not forget that DUKE and UNC got it on that night at 9:00pm, which would be right about halftime!

At about that same time around 1997 Hickory and SC were ranked 1 and 2 in the girls sweet 16. They were both in the same conference. When they played you could not find a seat if you got there after half time of the boys jv. At Reynolds Tuesday night there was a big crowd but after the girls game there were less than 20 people in the stands on SC's side. Maybe they should switch and let the girls play last.

Alot of people at McDowell try to blame the poor attendence for the boys games on Coach Church. They either do not like him or think he should win more games or everything else. You should still have respect for the players no matter what you think of the coach. Just imgaine how hard it is for the boys when they come out for warm outs and half the crowd is leaving. To see the faculty from MHS (90% of them) leave after the girls games is also something that looks bad for the school.

I understand the SC fans leaving on Tuesday night, that was a school night/work night and that is a long drive back home, not to mention the boys game didn't start until almost 8:30 due to Senior night. They would have been getting home EXTREMELY late had they stayed for the whole boys game Tuesday. Now, I don't know if that happens for SC on Friday nights when they play away, I was just suggesting why it might have happened on Tuesday.

Like ReynoldsRocks23 said in the previous post, I believe that the Carolina/Duke game had something to do with it. Also, if Freedom and East Burke were to meet in the finals of the NW4A tournament I am pretty sure that the gym would have a few people in it.
